Summary

In May 2026 U.S. agencies published 586 recall records that GovInfoNow tracks: 501 from FDA, 41 from CPSC, 40 from NHTSA and 4 from USDA FSIS.

That total is down 9% from April 2026 (645), and up 58% from May 2025 (371).

Medical devices made up the largest share (278, 47%).

Sorting each record by the reason the agency gave, the most common hazards were contamination, sterility or manufacturing (CGMP) (142), falls, cuts and other injuries (78) and undeclared allergens (56).

Of the 503 recalls our plain-English summaries have rated so far, 80 (16%) were rated “stop using now”.

Medline had the most records (88). FDA files one record per product, so one recall event can account for many of these.

Among vehicles, Hyundai had the most NHTSA recall campaigns (4).
