Our mission
Recalls, complaints, and settlements are written for lawyers and compliance officers, not for the family holding the product. We think a warning you can’t understand isn’t really a warning at all. So we take the official record and answer the three questions you actually have: was my thing recalled, how dangerous is it, and what do I do now.
Every year, tens of thousands of products are pulled from shelves for being dangerous — and the notice that’s supposed to protect you is buried in a PDF, in language built to limit liability rather than to inform. People get hurt by things they were technically “warned” about. That gap between a notice exists and a person understood it in time is the entire reason GovInfoNow is here.
If a safety notice takes a law degree to understand, it has failed the person it was meant to protect. We rewrite every one so it takes a minute, not an afternoon.
Every fact comes directly from the official agency record, and every page links back to it. No aggregators, no rewritten hearsay, no telephone game.
Knowing whether the thing in your home is dangerous should never sit behind a paywall or a login. It doesn’t here, and it never will.
We never invent a detail. If the official notice doesn’t say it, neither do we — and when we’re not sure, we say that plainly.
More than 75,000 recalls — plus hundreds of thousands of complaints and injury reports, and open refund and settlement programs — pulled directly from official U.S. government sources and refreshed on a schedule, so new notices appear here without anyone having to go looking for them:
For each one, we add a plain-English summary, a danger level, concrete next steps, and — where the agency publishes it — the manufacturer’s contact details, product photos, unit counts, and where the item was sold, so you can identify your product and act. Recalls are only half the story: defective products often end in refunds and settlements that go unclaimed because nobody hears about them, so we track those too.
Our plain-English write-ups are produced on our own hardware and held to one hard rule: they are constrained strictly to each recall’s official record and cannot introduce a fact that isn’t in the source notice. Every page links back to the originating agency so you can verify it yourself. The write-ups are an aid to understanding, never a replacement for the official notice — when your safety is on the line, the agency’s notice and the manufacturer’s instructions are the final word.
