Summary

In December 2024 U.S. agencies published 524 recall records that GovInfoNow tracks: 455 from FDA, 21 from CPSC, 43 from NHTSA and 5 from USDA FSIS.

That total is up 15% from November 2024 (457), and down 4% from December 2023 (546).

Medical devices made up the largest share (201, 38%).

Sorting each record by the reason the agency gave, the most common hazards were labeling, dosing or quality defects (82), listeria (77) and contamination, sterility or manufacturing (CGMP) (76).

Of the 441 recalls our plain-English summaries have rated so far, 71 (16%) were rated “stop using now”.
