What Ram 3500 owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Ram 3500 safety recalls or check your VIN.

On [XXX], I was involved in a serious collision while operating a 2019 Ram 3500 Laramie Crew Cab dually in California. I was traveling westbound when another vehicle traveling northbound failed to stop at a posted stop sign and entered my path. I applied my brakes but was unable to avoid colliding with the passenger side of the other vehicle. Following the collision, both vehicles left the roadway and entered an orchard. My truck sustained extensive damage and was subsequently declared a total loss. Despite the severity of the collision, none of the airbags deployed. I am concerned that the supplemental restraint system may not have operated as designed, potentially increasing my risk of i…
I own a 2015 Ram 3500 equipped with the 6.7L Cummins diesel engine. An authorized Ram dealership diagnosed an engine oil leak originating from the timing gear housing-to-engine block/cylinder block gasket. The leak has progressed beyond minor seepage. Engine oil is traveling down onto the chassis/track bar area and is leaving drops on the ground. The dealer estimated the repair at approximately $4,000 because of the extensive labor required to access and reseal the timing gear housing. My concern is that an engine oil leak from this sealed housing may worsen over time and could potentially result in significant oil loss, contamination of nearby chassis components, or oil reaching hot engine/…
Since first test driving the truck in March of 2025, there was an issue with the ABS system warning coming on. When that happens, it also disables 4 wheel drive, electronic stability control, cruise control and trailer brakes. The first 3x it happened while NOT towing at about 45mph. Other times it happened while towing a 16,000# trailer which caused vehicle control issues when braking. I did however discover, in a panic, that the manual trailer brake lever still works. The cause of the ABS system shut down was determined to be code: C0037-2F (Left Wheel Speed Sensor Signal Erratic) It has be brought in to the dealer for repair at the following mileages: 4,478, 4,699, 13,790, 14,745 and 1…
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 3500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the ABS, cruise control, and ESC warning lights were illuminated. The cruise control failed to activate while the warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the remedy was not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue via email, and the contact received responses that the remedy was not yet available. The failure mileage was …
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. While driving approximately 35 - 40 MPH or while reversing at undisclosed speeds, the steering wheel intermittently seized. The contact stated that after decelerating, the steering feature released and operated as needed. The failures nearly caused a crash on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and it was determined that there was moisture inside the steering sensor and that the steering sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by phone, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.
On my 2019 RAM 3500, I reported a problem with th eNHSTA back in 2023, and NO response yet. This is about the integrated brake controller, that provides NO electrical signal to stop the towed trailer at speeds what apear to be below 35MPH. This is a very dangerous failure on these trucks.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 3500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The manufacturer was contacted and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced a failure, causing the ESC and ABS warning lights to remain illuminated. The failure mileage was 120,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 3500. The contact stated that the ABS warning light intermittently flashed on the instrument panel while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that an audible chime was sounded with the warning light illuminated and the ABS, traction control, and cruise control features became inoperable. The contact stated that the failure almost caused two crashes due to the lack of the ABS functionality. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The dealer was notified of the recall; however, the contact was informed that the part was on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but the contact…

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2013–2027, owners most often name: service brakes, electrical system, power train. 2,341 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
