The vehicle systems named most often in Honda Passport complaints (one complaint can name several).
In the owners’ own words, as filed with NHTSA. Unverified reports; NHTSA removes personal details before publishing.
The improperly designed or manufactured MOST coaxial cable can deform its terminals. This leads to intermittent connection losses between the audio display unit and the vehicle cable connector. If connection loss lasts for more than 20 seconds while the vehicle is in reverse, the rearview camera image fails to display. This increases the risk of a crash or injury. Honda issued a recall notice to replace with a new harness. The replacement did not fix the underlying problem. Our vehicle was ârepairedâ under the recall but the problem persisted. We were told by our local Honda dealership that we would need to replace the entire AV system to remediate the issue. We paid to have that work do…
Vehicle Information: 2025 Honda Passport (Purchased in 2024, approximately 44,000 miles)Safety Defect Summary:The vehicle experienced a sudden and dangerous failure to restart during an Auto Idle-Stop event. While stopped at a traffic intersection, the Auto Idle-Stop system engaged and shut off the engine normally. However, when I lifted my foot off the brake pedal to accelerate, the vehicle failed to restart, completely stalled, and left me stranded in live traffic. Vehicle was recalled twice already for MOST cable and audio defects. Dealership refused to investigate related issues on XXX. 72K miles on vehicle and twice it has shutdown the transmission and shifted into neutral, both events occurred at highway speeds. I believe the transmission control module is defective and I can no longer trust this vehicle on open roads or merge lanes which leave no room for error.
This is the third time that the Auto Idle Engine has caused an issue while driving. If I attempt to turn the system off at a stop light it will automatically force my car into neutral and will not allow me to put my car back into drive. I have to turn the car off completely which it also does NOT allow easily and takes several attempts while Iâm sitting in the middle of the road with my hazards on and praying I donât get rear ended! Once I finally get the car to turn off it then allows me to restart and drive again. This should not be happening and is very unsafe yet when I took it into Honda they couldnât replicate the issue so they said they couldnât fix it even though it is a very…
My 2021 Honda Passport experiences a sudden, complete failure of the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen while driving. The dashboard controls go pitch black without warning, resulting in an immediate and dangerous loss of the speedometer, critical vehicle safety warnings, and the federally mandated rearview backup camera. The system stays dark for 3 to 4 minutes before attempting a forced system reboot. This matches the exact failure mode of NHTSA Recall 23V-431 (MOST Bus Network Connectors). However, both the dealership and American Honda Corporate refuse to cover the repair, stating my specific VIN is excluded from the current recall footprint. This is a severe, active driv…
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact stated that due to prolonged sunlight exposure, the interior foam fabric of the driverâs and passengerâs side sun visors were warped and swollen. The swelling caused the interior parts of the sun visors to poke through the exterior fabric coverings, creating a bulge that obstructed the view while driving. Additionally, the interior plastic housing had separated. The sun visors failed to stay in place and flapped around loosely, striking the driverâs head while driving. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the failure was confirmed. The failure mileage was 54,700.

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2019–2027, owners most often name: forward collision avoidance, electrical system, engine. 743 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
