Summary of the Safety Defect The passenger-side window of my 2024 Winnebago Era 70X fell out of the vehicle. The window detached from the frame and separated from the RV while the vehicle was stationary. This failure represents a serious safety hazard, as the window could have fallen out while driving, potentially causing injury to occupants, other motorists, or pedestrians. Winnebago has acknowledged the issue but has stated that the replacement window is on backorder with no estimated timeline. The vehicle cannot be safely operated without this window. Details of the Incident The passenger-side window unexpectedly detached from the RV. The window assembly appears to have failed at the a…
The contact owns a 2022 Winnebago Era built on a 2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 chassis. The contact stated that after the RV was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V694000 (Structure, Equipment) there was 0% battery voltage indicated on the battery after starting the RV. The contact stated that while at a gas station and attempting to start the generator, the generator failed to start. The contact noticed a burning odor entering the cabin of the RV. The contact called the Fire Department to determine if a fire had occurred. The Fire Department stated there was no fire; however, the Fire Department did confirm a chemical burning odor. The contact was unaware of a Fire report being fil…
We experienced the collapse of the overhead storage compartment on a drive home from the West Coast on 27 August 2023 while driving 75 MPH. It was extremely fortunate that the shelf fell backwards dumping the contents on our sleeping dog. Had the shelf fell forward, it would have totally blocked the driver's vision in heavy, high speed traffic. It is also fortunate that the brunt of the collapse did not hit the drivers head, but was caught by her headrest and the passengers head, again allowing for control of the vehicle at the time of the failure. We learned afterward that there was a recall on this storage compartment due to similar failures. As second owners, we were unaware of any …

LAST YEAR 9JUNE2016) I HAD VEHICLE SERVICED FOR PROPANE LP RECALL TWO WEEKS AGO IN A CAMP GROUND, WHEN STATIONARY, AFTER TURNING ON THE PROPANE VALVE THE PROPANE TANK VENTED AND DISCHARGED 10.5 GALLONS OF PROPANE. LUCKILY THE IT DID NOT EXPLODE. TOOK VEHICLE TO SERVICE CENTER COLERAIN RV IN CINTI OH AND THEY SAID IT MUST OF BEEN LOSS FITING AND REFILLED TANK. I HAD TO RETURN IT THE NEXT DAY BECAUSE THERE WAS NO PRPANE GETTING TO ANY OF THE GAS COMPONENTS IN THE VEHICLE. THEY HAD ORDERED A NEW REGULATOR STATING THE ONE ON THE VEHICLE WAS GUMMED UP DUE TO THE OIL IN THE POPANE THAT GIVES THE GAS SMELL. THEY WERE NOT SURE IF THIS CAUSED THE VENTING.
THE VEHICLE LOST POWER IN MULTIPLE INTERSECTIONS CAUSING OTHER VEHICLES TO LOCK UP THEIR BRAKES. I LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE VEHICIE JUST PURCHASED THIS NEW JUNE 8, 2017. WINNEBAGO HAS ISSUED A RECALL BUT IT IS NOT ON YOUR SITE. I WAS TOLD TO REMOVE A ACCESS MODULE THAT WAS SHORTING THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT THE ENTIRE UNIT WAS AFFECTED BY THIS MODULE PROBLEM. THE STEERING PHONE AND VOLUME CONTROLS NO LONGER WORK. I HAVE TO AVERT MY EYES TO THE CENTER OF THE UNIT WHILE DRIVING TO CONTROL VOLUME AND PHONE. THIS IS YET ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE. WINNEBAGO IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT.*DT*JB

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2024, owners most often name: electrical system, fuel/propulsion system, unknown or other. 12 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
