On [XXX], my 2026 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter experienced an abrupt loss of power while passing a semi-truck on [XXX] in northern British Columbia, Canada. It was raining sufficiently to require windshield wipers but not at full speed. As I accelerated to pass a semi-truck in rain and road spray, the dash gauge indicated turbo boost increased, and then abruptly my truck suddenly lost power and entered what appeared to be a reduced-power or âlimpâ mode with many dash lights. It started slowing down immediately with no throttle response. I could no longer maintain highway speed and had to pull over immediately. This created an immediate collision risk while passing a large truck in highway …
Driver side rear passenger inside door handle broke. I do rarely have rear passengers. I can count on one hand the times Iâve had rear passengers. This week I had a rear passenger and the door handle broke. The passenger did not abuse the handle. It was regular force used yet it still broke. Online community groups for my vehicle show that this has been happening alot to other 4th gen Tacomas. Not just rear drive door like mine but drive door as well
2018 Toyota Tacoma SR 4WD Double Cab, 3.5L V6 (2GR-FKS). At about 87,000 miles the check engine light came on with code P11EC, Cylinder 1 Air-Fuel Ratio Imbalance (Port). Cylinder 1 failed compression. Leakdown and coolant tests had passed earlier; borescope did not show heavy scoring. The Toyota dealer said replacing the direct injectors would fix compression (quote about $4,499). After the dealer injector repair, cylinder 1 was still 124 psi (spec about 142-180 psi), so it did not fix compression. The dealer then quoted $11,778 for a short block (+$500 incidentals) and $14,238 for an engine assembly that was not new (about 45,000 miles on the replacement discussed); adding injectors again …
Indoor door handles, and latch breaking over normal use due to cheap manufacturing. Major safety hazard on the inability of exiting a vehicle from inside. It happens unexpectedly and has been reported on many new trucks.
The rear quarter panel pressure vents failed which allowed water intrusion into the cabin of the truck. Severe mold and smell has occurred due to water damage. There were no warnings from toyota or dealership about these pieces failing and causing damage. To have a dealership replace just the parts, NOT including ruined carpet and pads due to mold, I was quoted $800- $5000 to replace a $60 piece of plastic
All interior door handles have a plastic piece within the door panel that can snap under normal operation, resulting in loss of ability to exit the vehicle while inside. My vehicle, and many other 4th Generation Tacoma owners, have reported this happening. For my situation, my driverâs interior door handle does not engage the door latch mechanism as of [XXX]. The window must be rolled down and outside handle pulled to open the door. Upon taking it to the dealer on October 3rd, the part is to be replaced with the original part that was installed. The issue has been stated by the service department at Wyatt Johnson Toyota (Clarksville, TN) as being a nationwide issue. That part is on nationa…
For second time fordt time was in 2024 bow again in September of 2026 while accelerating i loose power while shifting gears. No matter how hard i push accelerator it does not provide power feels almost like seiches to from drive . Worried that loss of power will cause accident since i csn accelerate. Toyoa want me to replicate this condition and is impossible to do. Offed to pay myself to check for metal shavings. I will pay to stay safe if they will deny the issue again. No check engine light
car passed and the vehicles breaks were pressed with the foot pedal to allow the other car to pass quickly but they did not work and the vehicle went off the road
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
Some 2022 â 2025 model year Tundra Hybrid, 2023 â 2025 model year Sequoia Hybrid, 2024 â2025 Land Cruiser and Tacoma Hybrid, and 2025 4Runner Hybrid vehicles may exhibit a whine noise from the transmission when in Ready ON mode.
2026 model year Toyota vehicles are equipped with driver side floor mat retainers to secure the floor mat in the correct position. In addition, some models may also utilize retainers for passenger side and rear seat floor mats. During Pre-Delivery Service (PDS), follow the appropriate Installation Procedure to attach the driver side, and if applicable, the passenger side and rear seatfloor mats to the vehicle carpet using the floor mat retainers.
During the manufacturing process, tires are mounted on the vehicle as matched sets to help reduce conditions such as pulling or drifting. If the wheels are replaced or refinished before vehicle delivery, it is important that the tires remain on the vehicle in the same location and in the same direction of rotation.
A battery in a stored vehicle is subject to conditions that can reduce its performance and service life. These conditions include storage period, temperature, parasitic drain, and battery load. Because of these factors, battery inspection and maintenance are required in order to ensure proper operation and optimal battery life.
Long-term or off-site storage requires special care to maintain vehicle condition. The following guidelines should be performed to minimize vehicle component/part degradation due to extendedvehicle storage conditions. Long-term storage can affect a vehicleâs systems and components. Any problems that are found should be corrected immediately.

Pre-Delivery Service (PDS) is a critical step in satisfying our new car customers. Customer feedback indicates the following areas deserve special attention when performing PDS: ⢠Careful inspection for paint chips/scratches and body dents/dings. ⢠Proper operation of electrical accessories (including interior light, clock, and radio reset). ⢠Interior cleanliness. ⢠Proper function of mechanical systems. The PDS process helps identify potential vehicle concerns before customer delivery. After completing the PDS process, maintain accurate PDS records by ensuring the required documen
The condition is for vehicles equipped with an accessory Power Port or Tire Inflator. During the installation process of the Power Port or Tire Inflator, the pre-wire connector is removed from the dummy cap (which is attached to the harness) and is left attached when power is connected. The purpose of the dummy cap is to prevent connector water intrusion/corrosion when the accessory is not installed.
Some 2024 â 2026 model year Tacoma vehicles may exhibit a âchirpâ noise from the HVAC magnetic clutch upon engagement.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this investigation to determine if the failure of airbags to deploy during severe crashes, in certain vehicles, was the result of a safety related defect. During the investigation a complex failure was studied that can result in non-deployment of subject vehicle air bags and other restraint system devices in severe crash events. The subject vehicles may be equipped with an airbag control unit (ACU) for the supplemental restraint system (SRS) Ele
Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2026, owners most often name: power train, unknown or other, engine. 2,623 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
