There is currently an ongoing recall for the GR Supra over the starter. I currently drive a 2020 and have had periodic starter malfunctions. This is when I go to start the car it states starter system malfunction then lets me still turn it on after clearing the error message. I have brought this up to my dealership and due to the intermittent nature of the issue they said they could not diagnose and that continuity was good so they would not replace it and if they did it would not be covered. I fear that my car is a fire risk based on the recall notices for all the other model years and that when it happens I will be left holding the bag. The date listed below (7/17/2026) is just the last t…
The contact owns a 2021 Toyota Supra. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle the engine did not immediately start and the message regarding a starter malfunction had displayed. The vehicle was later started and driven to the local dealer who diagnosed that the start needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet reparied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V056000(ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 33,493.
See attached document for complaint. Toyota Motor North America, Inc. has failed or is unable to remedy the safety recall (NHTSA Recall No. 25V-636), issued on 26 September 2025, for my 2021 Toyota Supra within a reasonable period of time. According to the non-dated letter from Toyota, the recall is for a defect in the engine starter relay that may catch fire without warning âduring vehicle operation or when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is offâ (Toyota Recall No. 25TA09). The letter further states that âowners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the recall remedy is completeâ and that âthe remedy can be available in the last quarter …
I am reporting a safety concern involving BMW and Toyota vehicles equipped with the B58 Technical Update (B58TU) engine, commonly found in 2019â2021 models. These engines use a variable displacement oil pump with an internal thermoplastic adjusting component that regulates oil pressure. Field reports show this component can fracture, causing sudden loss or instability of oil pressureâmost often during cold starts in low temperatures. When the part fails, oil pressure regulation becomes erratic or disappears entirely, often with little or no useful warning before engine damage or vehicle disablement. Reported early signs include failed electronic oil level readings, abnormal pressure beha…
The contact owns a 2020 Toyota Supra. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle with the Push-to-Start button, the vehicle hesitated while starting. A message that the engine was overheating was displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle was idling in Low Power Mode while at a stoplight, and the vehicle hesitated while accelerating with the accelerator pedal depressed. The vehicle then suddenly jolted forward. The failure was temporarily fixed after shifting to SPORT Mode. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where the starter was replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed to a local independent BMW Service Center, a…
I am reporting a safety concern involving BMW and Toyota Supra vehicles equipped with the B58 Technical Update (B58TU) engine, commonly found in model years 2019â2021. These vehicles utilize a variable-displacement engine oil pump containing an internal thermoplastic adjusting component responsible for regulating oil pressure. Field failures are increasingly being reported in which this internal component fractures, resulting in sudden loss or instability of engine oil pressure. The failure frequently occurs during cold-start operation in low ambient temperatures. When the component fails, oil pressure regulation becomes erratic or is lost entirely. In many cases, drivers receive little …

Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
Some 2020 â 2026 model year Supra vehicles may exhibit OBD-related DTC codes that can't be cleared during emission testing
2026 model year Toyota vehicles are equipped with driver side floor mat retainers to secure the floor mat in the correct position. In addition, some models may also utilize retainers for passenger side and rear seat floor mats. During Pre-Delivery Service (PDS), follow the appropriate Installation Procedure to attach the driver side, and if applicable, the passenger side and rear seatfloor mats to the vehicle carpet using the floor mat retainers.
During the manufacturing process, tires are mounted on the vehicle as matched sets to help reduce conditions such as pulling or drifting. If the wheels are replaced or refinished before vehicle delivery, it is important that the tires remain on the vehicle in the same location and in the same direction of rotation.
A battery in a stored vehicle is subject to conditions that can reduce its performance and service life. These conditions include storage period, temperature, parasitic drain, and battery load. Because of these factors, battery inspection and maintenance are required in order to ensure proper operation and optimal battery life.
Long-term or off-site storage requires special care to maintain vehicle condition. The following guidelines should be performed to minimize vehicle component/part degradation due to extendedvehicle storage conditions. Long-term storage can affect a vehicleâs systems and components. Any problems that are found should be corrected immediately.

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2020–2026, owners most often name: electrical system, engine, service brakes. 45 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
