What Toyota Land Cruiser owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Toyota Land Cruiser safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

Hitch-mounted bike rack triggers false PKSB (Parking Support Brake) auto-braking when reversing. All four tires skid, bikes experience tremendous torque on the rack, and cargo inside the vehicle shifts heavily. No actual obstacle present. Tow/haul mode does not reliably prevent it. This is a safety defect. Uncommanded braking can cause rear-end collisions. Owner is located in the United States. Multiple Land Cruiser forum owners report the same issue with hitch-mounted bike racks and false auto-braking.
The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving 5 MPH, two bystanders alerted the contact to stop the vehicle because there was pressurized gas coming from underneath the vehicle. The contact became aware of a loss of power. The contact was able to continue driving the vehicle. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was towed. The dealer was contacted and replaced a hose and clamp that had popped out of place. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.
While operating the sunroof normally, I heard a very loud popping sound, similar to a gunshot. There was no impact, no object hitting the vehicle, and nothing obstructing the sunroof. Immediately after the sound, the sunroof became visibly deformed and damaged. The center section appeared to pop upward and the glass/panel no longer sat in its normal position. I had to close the sunroof right away. This failure happened during normal operation and without any outside cause. I am concerned that the sunroof assembly, glass, frame, or mechanism may have a manufacturing or structural defect. A sudden sunroof failure like this could create a safety risk if the glass breaks further or separates w…
The windshield is very steep by design and is also seemingly extremely delicate. Within 6 months I had multiple spider cracks simply from driving around town and on the highway at 55-65 mph. A few weeks ago a rock hit the windshield and spidered almost immediately. The angle and the thin glass make it dangerous. It also cost just shy of $2900 to replace at my local Toyota dealership, which I did today. There are multiple complaints online in Toyota and Reddit and other forums.
Front passenger tire, of a 2025 base model Toyota Land Cruiser, blew out on the interstate going 80 mph with only 9,123 miles on the vehicle. Fortunately the driver was able to navigate to the shoulder and bring the vehicle to a stop without causing further damage to the vehicle or surrounding traffic. Dimensions listed on the tire are 265/60R20 112H. Toyota dealership indicates this is not under warranty. Remaining 3 tires and full sized spare are the same model Yokohama Geolander tires.
Fog Lights (Rigid Industries Version) significantly shake during normal street driving conditions. Any minor bumps on the road cause a shudder like movement from the fog lights that is distracting while driving and potentially blinding to oncoming drivers as the lights flash up and down. Vehicle was taken to Beaver Toyota and inspected for this concern, the technician inspected the fog lights and stated that there was nothing wrong. The vibration / shake from the fog lights is well documented as a concern in online forums, however, everyone seems to get the same response from Toyota. It seems other Land Cruiser owners with the same fog light package have no issues with shake while others h…
HVAC heating system only works in defrost mode. Does not blow hot air out front vents. Blend actuator door does not transition fully to allow air flow. Dealership unresponsive to issue.
I was driving down the road without other vehicles nearby. There was no overpass nearby. I heard a deep, loud noise like a shotgun overhead. I opened my sliding sunroof cover and noticed that the entire window had spontaneously shattered (appeared pebbled throughout). The internal temperature of the car registered 101 degrees Fahrenheit. I kept the sliding panel closed and could hear pieces of the window detach as I drove home as the adhesive did not hold the window together. I contacted Toyota, and they mentioned that there was no recall for this. In looking online, it appears that others have experienced similar due to small defects in the glass that can spontaneously shatter. There was no…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

2026 model year Toyota vehicles are equipped with driver side floor mat retainers to secure the floor mat in the correct position. In addition, some models may also utilize retainers for passenger side and rear seat floor mats. During Pre-Delivery Service (PDS), follow the appropriate Installation Procedure to attach the driver side, and if applicable, the passenger side and rear seatfloor mats to the vehicle carpet using the floor mat retainers.
During the manufacturing process, tires are mounted on the vehicle as matched sets to help reduce conditions such as pulling or drifting. If the wheels are replaced or refinished before vehicle delivery, it is important that the tires remain on the vehicle in the same location and in the same direction of rotation.
A battery in a stored vehicle is subject to conditions that can reduce its performance and service life. These conditions include storage period, temperature, parasitic drain, and battery load. Because of these factors, battery inspection and maintenance are required in order to ensure proper operation and optimal battery life.
Long-term or off-site storage requires special care to maintain vehicle condition. The following guidelines should be performed to minimize vehicle component/part degradation due to extendedvehicle storage conditions. Long-term storage can affect a vehicleâs systems and components. Any problems that are found should be corrected immediately.

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2027, owners most often name: service brakes, unknown or other, power train. 107 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
