Vehicle: 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, 13565 miles, [XXX] Recall: Toyota 26TA08 / NHTSA 26V203 Component: Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) / pedestrian warning sound I am reporting a problem that I noticed following completion of Toyota safety recall 26TA08 on my 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid. The recall repair was performed by Toyota dealer , Larry Miller Toyota, Murray UT, XXX, and involved the software update for the vehicle's pedestrian warning sound when operating in reverse. Oil and filter also serviced. Two days after the recall repair the rear power hatch (which has never malfunctioned) would not open. The motor ran to unlock but did not raise the door. Opened the…
I currently am experiencing the early stages of the failure of the SECOND fuel pump that this car has. I experienced the same symptoms/problem (hesitation and stalling) a year or two ago with the stock fuel pump. I had the Toyota dealer that I purchased the car from in January of 2022 replace the fuel pump. I thought it was just a one-off situation. Now that the second pump is failing, I did some searching and saw that there was a recall for 2013-2020 Toyota Corollas for the very same problem. I think this fuel pump failure problem is likely repeating for the 2022 Corollas too.
The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross. The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds with the adaptive cruise control activated and activating the left turn signal to overtake another vehicle, the vehicle immediately accelerated to the set speed before the contact could steer to the left to overtake the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had occurred consistently and primarily while driving on the highway since purchasing the vehicle. During the recent failure the vehicle nearly rear-ended another vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that whenever the brake lights of the vehicle ahead illuminated and the vehicle was in the process of exiting the highway, the a…
WINDSHIELD-VISIBILITY: Description of Safety Defect & Incident: I am reporting a severe, life-threatening factory manufacturing defect internal to the windshield glass of my 2026 Toyota Corolla w approximately 1200 miles. I noticed this defect shortly after taking possession of the car, although the daytime sun was higher and I though that windshields might be made differently. It was a confusing situation. Under specific lighting conditions, the defect caused catastrophic light scattering, resulting in an instantaneous and complete loss of forward driving visibility. On 9/22/26, while driving up a hill at approximately 6:30 PM (sun low during sunset), the vehicle reached the crest of the hi…
The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the clutch was depressed; however, the clutch system failed to operate as intended. The contact stated that the clutch was stuck to the floorboard. The contact stated that due to the failure, there was an excessive amount of clutch fluid leaking onto the ground. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated that the failure was a known failure. The manufacturer was contacted by phone and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.
The AC condenser on my 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross suffered a premature failure due to a critical vehicle design flaw. The lower bumper grille features exceptionally wide gaps placed very low to the ground, leaving the delicate aluminum condenser completely unprotected from routine, foreseeable highway debris. Because the climate control system regulates internal dehumidification, this premature failure directly compromises the vehicle's windshield defrosting and defogging capabilities. During temperature changes and damp conditions, the vehicle is unable to adequately clear the inside glass, severely impairing driver visibility and creating an immediate operating hazard on the road.
I was driving home from church late Sunday night. A really rough storm hit and it knocked down a huge tree in the road covering the entire road. I did not see the tree until I got up on it and I went straight through it. I was running around 40 mph and total front end impact took the whole bumper off but my airbags did not deploy.
Purchase car at the end of July 2 weeks later heard a not a rattling sound while driving the vehicle. Took the vehicle for a service appointment at the dealership. I purchased it from. I was told by service as well as the sales manager that the rattling sound was found in both my car and another car with zero mileage. The sales manager stated I would have to put up with the rattling and the rattling has gotten progressively worse. The sales manager stated he could not help me any further. I bought the new car and traded in my old one that had a rattling sound and now drive a new car that rattles and that is what I told the sales manager and he stated I would have to wait to turn it in. The…

2026 model year Toyota vehicles are equipped with driver side floor mat retainers to secure the floor mat in the correct position. In addition, some models may also utilize retainers for passenger side and rear seat floor mats. During Pre-Delivery Service (PDS), follow the appropriate Installation Procedure to attach the driver side, and if applicable, the passenger side and rear seatfloor mats to the vehicle carpet using the floor mat retainers.
During the manufacturing process, tires are mounted on the vehicle as matched sets to help reduce conditions such as pulling or drifting. If the wheels are replaced or refinished before vehicle delivery, it is important that the tires remain on the vehicle in the same location and in the same direction of rotation.
A battery in a stored vehicle is subject to conditions that can reduce its performance and service life. These conditions include storage period, temperature, parasitic drain, and battery load. Because of these factors, battery inspection and maintenance are required in order to ensure proper operation and optimal battery life.
Long-term or off-site storage requires special care to maintain vehicle condition. The following guidelines should be performed to minimize vehicle component/part degradation due to extendedvehicle storage conditions. Long-term storage can affect a vehicleâs systems and components. Any problems that are found should be corrected immediately.
Pre-Delivery Service (PDS) is a critical step in satisfying our new car customers. Customer feedback indicates the following areas deserve special attention when performing PDS: ⢠Careful inspection for paint chips/scratches and body dents/dings. ⢠Proper operation of electrical accessories (including interior light, clock, and radio reset). ⢠Interior cleanliness. ⢠Proper function of mechanical systems. The PDS process helps identify potential vehicle concerns before customer delivery. After completing the PDS process, maintain accurate PDS records by ensuring the required docume
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20
NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-spe
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this investigation to determine if the failure of airbags to deploy during severe crashes, in certain vehicles, was the result of a safety related defect. During the investigation a complex failure was studied that can result in non-deployment of subject vehicle air bags and other restraint system devices in severe crash events. The subject vehicles may be equipped with an airbag control unit (ACU) for the supplemental restraint system (SRS) Ele
The Agency received a petition on September 11, 2014 requesting an investigation into, low-speed surging in the 2006-2010 Toyota Corolla [vehicles] with ETCS-i, in which the brakes fail to stop the vehicle in time to prevent a crash.NHTSA conducted a technical review of the material cited and provided by the petitioner, material Toyota submitted in response to a NHTSA formal request, interviews with complainants and manufacturer representatives, as well as the results of testing of the complaint
On February 18, 2010, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE10-008 to investigate complaints of steering wander or drift in model year (MY) 2009 and 2010 Toyota Corolla and Matrix vehicles. The complaint descriptions indicated dissatisfaction with the on-center steering feel in the subject vehicles. Some drivers (~25%) related the feel to driving in a strong crosswind and others indicated that the effort and attention required to maintain heading increased driv
Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2027, owners most often name: air bags, steering, engine. 4,848 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
