Vehicle: 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, 13565 miles, [XXX] Recall: Toyota 26TA08 / NHTSA 26V203 Component: Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) / pedestrian warning sound I am reporting a problem that I noticed following completion of Toyota safety recall 26TA08 on my 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid. The recall repair was performed by Toyota dealer , Larry Miller Toyota, Murray UT, XXX, and involved the software update for the vehicle's pedestrian warning sound when operating in reverse. Oil and filter also serviced. Two days after the recall repair the rear power hatch (which has never malfunctioned) would not open. The motor ran to unlock but did not raise the door. Opened the…
The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross. The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds with the adaptive cruise control activated and activating the left turn signal to overtake another vehicle, the vehicle immediately accelerated to the set speed before the contact could steer to the left to overtake the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had occurred consistently and primarily while driving on the highway since purchasing the vehicle. During the recent failure the vehicle nearly rear-ended another vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that whenever the brake lights of the vehicle ahead illuminated and the vehicle was in the process of exiting the highway, the a…
The AC condenser on my 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross suffered a premature failure due to a critical vehicle design flaw. The lower bumper grille features exceptionally wide gaps placed very low to the ground, leaving the delicate aluminum condenser completely unprotected from routine, foreseeable highway debris. Because the climate control system regulates internal dehumidification, this premature failure directly compromises the vehicle's windshield defrosting and defogging capabilities. During temperature changes and damp conditions, the vehicle is unable to adequately clear the inside glass, severely impairing driver visibility and creating an immediate operating hazard on the road.

The vehicle has experienced intermittent loss of power/acceleration when taking off from a stop. When the accelerator pedal is pressed, the vehicle sometimes does not accelerate normally or has substantially reduced power. This creates a safety concern because the vehicle may not accelerate as expected when entering or crossing traffic or in other situations where predictable acceleration is necessary. This has been happening off and on for several month. Around the same time, the vehicle's fuel economy decreased significantly. The vehicle had previously averaged approximately 37 MPG and is now averaging approximately 22â25 MPG under generally similar driving conditions. The vehicle was …
The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "Engine Maintenance Required" was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with an internal failure, and the engine coolant bypass valve needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.
The vehicle's "Engine Maintenance Required" dashboard message illuminated due to a total failure of the Engine Coolant Bypass Valve, throwing Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P268115. A certified Toyota dealership diagnostic inspection confirmed that an internal seal leak allowed pressurized engine coolant to short out the valve's electrical circuit, rendering the component completely inoperable. This component is responsible for regulating engine temperature and routing coolant to prevent the engine from overheating. Because the valve has suffered an internal electrical short, it cannot redirect coolant appropriately, introducing a severe risk of sudden engine overheating and catastrophic pow…
There is an interior design defect on the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross XSE regarding sharp, overlapping hard plastic edges located directly underneath the steering column and lower dashboard assembly. The clearance in this specific area is too narrow for normal vehicle ingress and egress. As a result, the driver's knees repeatedly strike and scrape against this sharp plastic seam when getting in and out of the vehicle. This has caused multiple bodily injuries within two months of ownership: a recent open skin abrasion with bleeding on the right knee, and a dark scar from a previous injury two weeks ago on the left knee. This recurring injury hazard poses a safety and ergonomic risk to drivers.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
OBSOLETE NOTICE August 20, 2026: This bulletin is now obsolete. Please see T-SB-0051-26.
This bulletin includes basic procedures for performing a rescue charge at battery on high voltage (HV) Ni-MH and Li-ion batteries.
Customer states MIL ON (P04602A) and fuel gauge indicating incorrect fuel level, showing that there is more/less fuel in the vehicle.
2026 model year Toyota vehicles are equipped with driver side floor mat retainers to secure the floor mat in the correct position. In addition, some models may also utilize retainers for passenger side and rear seat floor mats. During Pre-Delivery Service (PDS), follow the appropriate Installation Procedure to attach the driver side, and if applicable, the passenger side and rear seatfloor mats to the vehicle carpet using the floor mat retainers.
During the manufacturing process, tires are mounted on the vehicle as matched sets to help reduce conditions such as pulling or drifting. If the wheels are replaced or refinished before vehicle delivery, it is important that the tires remain on the vehicle in the same location and in the same direction of rotation.
A battery in a stored vehicle is subject to conditions that can reduce its performance and service life. These conditions include storage period, temperature, parasitic drain, and battery load. Because of these factors, battery inspection and maintenance are required in order to ensure proper operation and optimal battery life.
Long-term or off-site storage requires special care to maintain vehicle condition. The following guidelines should be performed to minimize vehicle component/part degradation due to extendedvehicle storage conditions. Long-term storage can affect a vehicleâs systems and components. Any problems that are found should be corrected immediately.

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2022–2026, owners most often name: engine, electrical system, unknown or other. 321 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
