SUBJECT: Technical Dispute and Evidence Regarding EV Mode Restrictions and Drop in MPG / Toyota BEC Case #XXX VEHICLE: 2026 Toyota Camry SE Hybrid VIN: [XXX] Dear Service Manager (Longo Toyota), I am writing to formally follow up on the system restrictions and diagnostic anomalies that my 2026 Toyota Camry SE Hybrid has been presenting immediately following the safety recall software update (Campaign 26TA16). The vehicle is currently experiencing severe hybrid powertrain limitations: the Automatic EV Mode fails to engage at highway speeds, and the system consistently locks or drops the vehicle into a restricted speed of 35 mph in electric mode, accompanied by a distinct "heavy" driving feel.…
When the headlight switch is set to AUTO, the vehicle consistently takes approximately 16 seconds to activate the headlights when entering a dark environment such as a tunnel or underpass. The dashboard illumination dims immediately, indicating the ambient light sensor detects the low-light condition, but the headlights do not activate for approximately 16 seconds. To illustrate the safety hazard: at 60 mph, a vehicle travels 1,760 feet â approximately one-third of a mile â in 16 seconds without headlights. At 55 mph, the vehicle travels approximately 1,613 feet in the same time. This is an unacceptable and dangerous safety risk to the driver and other motorists. In my experience with ve…
Water intrusion in back passenger floorboard, has happened twice within two months only during heavy rains while driving. Has caused mold in the interior and damage to the interior of the vehicle. Had it looked at first time and dealership service center could not replicate the issue. When it happened again, took it to a different dealer within two months and they said they believe it could be an outside influence such as a spider web in the HVAC, not covered under warranty. If this were the case, my floorboards would have been wet all summer long with hot itâs been. Vehicle was not tested in conditions when customer was experiencing the issue. Second dealership omitted information on ori…
I took my 2026 Toyota Camry SE to Bob Tyler Toyota on April 10, 2026, for safety recall service. The dealership kept my vehicle until approximately August 25, 2026. When I picked it up, the service paperwork indicated that the tires had been inspected, but it did not mention flat spots, recommend tire repair or replacement, or warn me that the vehicle might be unsafe to drive. I was not told of any tire problem at pickup. After leaving the dealership, I noticed the vehicle handled unsafely and veered off the road multiple times. I had not experienced this problem before leaving the vehicle at the dealership. I returned for evaluation on September 2 and again on September 14. Following its Se…
The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, the rear doors unexpectedly opened when a pedestrian attempted to open the doors. The contact was unable to lock or unlock the rear doors with the key fob. The key fob was replaced. The contact also attempted to lock and unlock the vehicle using the Mobile App; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a service center to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the rear door lock cables and actuators had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that due to the failure, the vehicle could not be locked or unlocked using the key fob. The contact stated that the same fai…
The plastic clips/brackets that hold the front bumper on just below the headlights keep coming out. This causes a large gap under the headlights. Not sure if possibly the whole front bumper will fall off in front of car while driving. The brackets on both sides on my car will not hold. I can push the bumper up to engage and the clips just pop right back out of bracket. This is a design flaw the Toyota should take responsibility for. I pointed the issue out at the dealership and they want to ignore it.
The front bumper falls off due to the clips under the headlight failing to support the weight of the bumper. Toyota dealer confirmed that it is a known issue but does not have any fix or remedy besides temporarily pushing the bumper back onto the clip. However, it ends up coming off again
The front bumper is protruding out underneath the right headlight. I took it to the dealer and the advisor suggested that this was caused by scraping the bumper on the driveway or a curb. Since then, Iâve noticed multiple cars of the similar model year with the same issue. I feel like this is a manufacturing defect.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
OBSOLETE NOTICE August 20, 2026: This bulletin is now obsolete. Please see T-SB-0051-26.
This bulletin includes basic procedures for performing a rescue charge at battery on high voltage (HV) Ni-MH and Li-ion batteries.

During the manufacturing process, tires are mounted on the vehicle as matched sets to help reduce conditions such as pulling or drifting. If the wheels are replaced or refinished before vehicle delivery, it is important that the tires remain on the vehicle in the same location and in the same direction of rotation.
A battery in a stored vehicle is subject to conditions that can reduce its performance and service life. These conditions include storage period, temperature, parasitic drain, and battery load. Because of these factors, battery inspection and maintenance are required in order to ensure proper operation and optimal battery life.
Long-term or off-site storage requires special care to maintain vehicle condition. The following guidelines should be performed to minimize vehicle component/part degradation due to extendedvehicle storage conditions. Long-term storage can affect a vehicleâs systems and components. Any problems that are found should be corrected immediately.
Pre-Delivery Service (PDS) is a critical step in satisfying our new car customers. Customer feedback indicates the following areas deserve special attention when performing PDS: ⢠Careful inspection for paint chips/scratches and body dents/dings. ⢠Proper operation of electrical accessories (including interior light, clock, and radio reset). ⢠Interior cleanliness. ⢠Proper function of mechanical systems. The PDS process helps identify potential vehicle concerns before customer delivery. After completing the PDS process, maintain accurate PDS records by ensuring the required documen

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2026, owners most often name: unknown or other, service brakes, electrical system. 520 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
