On April 20, 2026 we discovered our 2025 Tiffin Wayfarer was experiencing a thermal runaway of the house battery charging system. The coach was in storage at a public RV storage facility. Our unit is a single enclosed unit with a roll up door. When we opened the bay door, we could tell the entire storage bay and coach were severely filled with toxic H2S gas. After the bay had been allowed to ventilate, I disconnected the shore power to stop the charging process. I called Tiffin Motorhomes Tech Support the next day and spoke with the Wayfarer specialist, Keith Hawkins. He said this was a known issue and they were working on trying to determine the cause.. Keith called me the on April 2…
The RV currently is sitting at MB of Modesto where it can be inspected. The issue, when we attempted to rotate the rotatable front passenger seat, and an Airbag error was displayed on the dash and the vehicle was disabled, would not start. When we rotated the seat back we assumed it took pressure off of the wiring harness and the error disappeared and the vehicle started. We tried to rotate the seat back to its secure position but wires had become tangled under the seat and we could not secure the seat. We wanted to drive the RV to MB of Modesto but were concerned the airbag might deploy and disable the RV while we were driving. We decided to have the RV towed to Mercedes of Modesto. W…

The contact owns a 2025 Tiffin Wayfarer RV built on a 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 Chassis. The contact stated that the sideview mirrors were vibrating while idling and while driving at various speeds, reducing the visibility of the roadway. The contact stated that the failure was more pronounced while driving at higher speeds. The RV was taken to the dealer and to two other unknown dealers, but the contact was informed that the sideview mirrors were operating as designed. The RV was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,100.
Answers to NHTSA questions. Q. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? A. I donât know if a system failed or malfunctioned, I only know how the system performed under the described conditions. Q. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? A. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk because the vehicle slammed on the brakes causing other drivers to respond to avoid a collision. Q. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? A. The vehicle is a recreation vehicle with a door in the added cabin on a Mercedes chassis. There are automatic extended steps mounted under the door opening. They have failed several times during travel. Sometimes they extend while driving striking curbs and the like. Sometimes they fail to extend and lead to falls while opening the door to exit the vehicle. Tiffin knows of the problem, but it seems to be a design flaw that they cannot fix, and they continue to build units with the same-step problems. The problem seems to be poorly fitting doors that cut through control wires buried in the door jamb. To see similar documented events, visit: https://www.facebook.com/groups/182126562363457 and …
During a cross country trip, failure of tire valve extender, resulted in loss of tire pressure. This sudden loss of pressure could have resulted in a vehicle highway accident. This problem occurred twice (each incident within 2 hours of each other). Our RV, has dual rear tires, and was not detected until we stopped for fuel. We did not receive an alert from the tire pressure sensor that pressure was lost. The first failure was detected when we stopped for gas and noticed the right rear, outside tire was severely damaged/flat. Fortunately, the inside tire was undamaged and prevented loss of control of the RV on the highway. We had a service repair company replace the tire. During the…

From Mercedes-Benz: Mercedes=Benz is extending the coverage of the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve on vehicle from the vehicle's basic warranty of 5 years/100,000 miles to 15 years/150,000 miles (whichever occurs first) and applies to the vehicle regardless of ownership. Extension is being given because M/B has determined that dimensional variations during engine valve seating may cause the EGR valve to be switched off, and the vehicle may experience a loss of power and enter a limp home mode. The MIL will illuminate and remain illuminated until the vehicle is serviced. When this occu

On certain Sprinter vehicles, the fuse layout of the interior heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) blower motor might not meet the requirements for prolonged operation at the highest blower setting. The interior blower motor circuit may be inadequate, which can allow the wiring harness to overload. Consequently, a risk of fire during operation and a risk of injury cannot be ruled out.

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2017–2027, owners most often name: forward collision avoidance, unknown or other, wheels. 17 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
