WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTAE THE CARGO DOOR SKIN BLEW OFF. THE DOOR IS APPROXIMATELY 48' X 28" THIS COULD HAVE GONE THRU A WINDSHEILD AND CAUSED A FATAL ACIDENT. THIS HAS BEEN KNOWED THAT TIFFIN USED DEFECTIVE GLUE IN 2019' BUT THEY HAVE NOT MADE A RECALL, THEY HAVE CORRECTED SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES BUT NOT ALL OF THEM MANUFACTURED WITH THE DEFECTIVE GLUE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR ANYTHING VISIBLE TO US BEFORE DRIVING ON THE ROAD.
Hello, I would like to report a safety issue related to my motorhome. I have a 2025 Tiffin Phaeton 40IH on a Freightliner Custom Chassis, VIN [XXX] . Freightliner Custom Chassis has a safety system called Roadwatch which is a collision avoidance device that integrates the Adaptive Cruise Control and the Standard Cruise Control. When the vehicle experiences heavy rain a driver information screen displays the message âRadar Screen Blockedâ, obviously due to heavy rain, and it renders all of Roadwatch system inoperative. However when the rain subsides and the driver message clears the entire Roadwatch system DOES NOT return to normal operation. After calling Freightliner Custom Chassis I wa…
The contact owns a 2022 Tiffin Phaeton RV. The contact stated that while the RV was parked, the hydraulic slide-outs became stuck. The RV was taken to a dealer; however, the RV was not diagnosed. The contact stated that the RV was not drivable. The RV was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. The VIN was unavailable.
This vehicle has fuel fill on both sides. You have to open the other side in order to prevent a vapor lock on the fueling side. I have fueled this way numerous times without incident. I recently fueled the same way and fuel gushed out the opposite side without tripping the fuel nozzle cut off. This resulted on a significant amount of fuel dumping on the fuel bay.
The electric step on our coach broken on the road with the gear box issue and get loose , it is very dangerous to run with the electric step open to get people injured and also for the people that disembarked from the motor home, we feel that electrical step should have a safety when it is close .
I recently experienced a failure of the Dash A/C on the ref RV. After calling Freightliner, Savannah to find our if they serviced Dash A/Câs, which they informed me they did, I decided to have it inspected locally to rule out a quick fix like recharge the refrigerant. The Mobile RV Mechanic, whom I have used several times previously and is very competent, troubleshot the system and found that the A/C compressor was not engaging. He then found that there was only .2V to the compressor clutch plug. Suspecting the PDM, he called Freightliner Tech services to determine the location of the PDM on this model. They informed him that there was a recall, FL917A, on this VIN that might well be …
While driving the top bunk above the drivers and passenger seats came loose from the latches and came down blocking my view of the road. My wife just sat down in her seat otherwise it would have hit her on the head. She was able to guide me to the side of the road and it put the bunk back on the latches. This is a huge safety problem which blocks the view of the driver. and can cause a major or even a catastrophic accident I sent an email to Tiffin and their response several weeks ago was thanking me for letting them know. There was no follow up no telephone call or no concern on their behalf as to what happened. This needs to be investigated and a possible recall issued on all motorh…
Our motorhome came with an optional electric grill that is mounted on a slide in the storage compartments. While underway, the slide deployed, popping open the compartment door. The slide was then hanging out approximately 5 feet while going down the road. Thankfully someone flagged us down just before we would have struck another vehicle with the slide. Upon further investigation, the slide that the grill is mounted on has a placard stating the slide is limited to 500 pounds total weight EVENLY DISTRIBUTED. The grill is mounted at one end of the slide and is very heavy. The mechanism to secure the slide failed probably due to the slide being weighted inappropriately. Tiffin is aware of th…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
TriMark brought to Tiffinâs attention that on certain 2025 and 2026 Allegro Breeze; 2025 and 2026 Allegro Bus; 2025 and 2026 Allegro RED 360; 2025 and 2026 Byway; 2025 and 2026 Phaeton; 2025 and 2026 Zephyr Motorhomes that are equipped with PTL entry doors with a TriMark entry lock, owners may experience a lock out situation. TriMark has notified Tiffin Motorhomes that there is a possible condition where the exterior entrance door handle mechanism can bypass the inside linkage causing a lock-out situation whereby the door cannot be opened from the exterior handle. TriMark is replacing all in
Tiffin sent out an addendum to be added to Owner's Manuals that states, "Tiffin Motorhomes recommends that all diesel units be refueled using standard automotive-grade diesel fuel pumps, rather than high-flow commercial truck stop pumps. The fuel delivery rate from commercial truck stop pumps is often too aggressive for motorhome fuel systems, which are not designed to handle rapid fuel intake. Using high-flow commercial truck stop pumps can result in overflow, spillage, premature shutoff, or even damage to the fuel fill components."
Stopped using the lights we had been using due to expense. Replaced with these, but these new lights have to be wired in instead of just clicking in. These are the instructions to wire in.
Tiffin sent out letter asking customer to please review the enclosed information for the proper operation of the Starlink System in their Tiffin Motorhome. And after reviewing the information, to add it to their Owner's Manual for future reference.
It has come to our attention that on certain Tiffin motorhomes equipped with optional Go Power! solar panel solar panels systems, the 30A inline fuse located before the cable entry plate should be removed. The plastic housing surrounding the fuse may become heat damaged from heat generated by the normal operation of the 30A fuse, which would cause the solar panel system to not operate as designed. Due to updated recommendations from Go Power!, Tiffin Motorhomes is removing this 30A fuse from the solar panel system.
Daimler Truck North America on behalf of its Freightliner Trucks Division and wholly owned subsidiaries have issued NHTSA #24C-392 and #24V-393 on certain 2025 model year vehicles. The affected vehicles may be missing the snap ring on the preset hubs and/or have unbent retainer tabs on the conventional 4-piece fastener hubs. This could allow the wheel hub fasteners to loosen. Wheel separation may occur resulting in an increased risk of loss of vehicle control and a crash.
Faulty DEF sensors that due to shortage were not replaced. Instead engine software was temporarily modified to account for continued operation with a faulty sensor until replacement sensors were available. This campaign will install an engine control module calibration as well as confirm and/or install a new DEF header.
On certain Tiffin Motorhomes equipped with an optional overhead bunk, an additional latch should be installed to secure the bunk in the event that the owner of the motorhome does not fully engage the primary bunk latches.
On the affected vehicles, the steer axle tie rod castle nut cotter pin may be missing, allowing the steering arm to detach. This could lead to a loss of steering response and a lack of direction control, increasing the risk of a crash. The driver may experience some additional free-play in the steering and/or feel an improper steering alignment.

Some 2023 year models of Tiffin Motorhomes built on PowerGlide chassis have a Federal Certification Label that does not have the tire information listed. To correct this issue, we are sending dealers and owners of involved units a corrected Federal Certification label to be placed in the involved motorhomes.
Re: Recalls # 22E-063 and # 22V-554 from Cummins and Freightliner. Notice applies to engine. An unexpected engine stall without the ability to restart the engine may lead to an increased risk of a crash. Cummins has released Safety Campaign ECM. #C2614 CM2450 ECM Replacement Safety Campaign to address this condition by replacing the ECM.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
Based on two Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQ) alleging windshield wiper failures at the pivot assembly on Phaeton model Motorhomes, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Preliminary Evaluation (PE).During the investigation Tiffin made ODI aware of 66 warranty claims for wiper failures and also informed ODI of a design change to the wiper motor. Based on the VOQ received by ODI, the vehicles subject to this investigation were 2008 MY Tiffin Phaeton Motorhomes. During the investig
Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2025, owners most often name: engine, tires, engine and engine cooling. 35 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
