Dear NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline, I am reporting possible safety defects involving my 2026 Tiffin Allegro Bay 38AB motorhome. We purchased it new from Blue Compass RV in [XXX], on XXX I have observed the following issues: 1. On the drive home immediately after delivery, hydraulic fluid leaked from somewhere near the front driverâs side and spread over the driverâs side of the RV. The source of the leak has not been confirmed. 2. The motorhome has an alignment problem that needs assessment. 3. The passenger-side slide does not retract properly. The slide seals on both sides are ripping and do not extend properly. 4. The driver-side slide cover is loose. 5. Drawers open while the motor…
In troubleshooting a power failure in the slide and leveling hydraulic system in this Class A RV, an electrical issue was discovered with the main powerline being frayed and corroded due to its placement next to the gas tank. It appears the power line may have been arching against the fuel tank. This seems like a very dangerous situation and should be reviewed. No incidents happened due to the discovery of this issue, and the powerline was repaired and moved away from the the fuel tank. If this was a repeated manufacturing issue by Tiffin, it should be investigated as it could cause a fire or worse explosion of the fuel tank.
Vehicle sways uncontrollably when passed by a semi. On several occasion it push me into the berm. It is known issue with the Ford chassis the vehicle sits on. We just purchased the vehicle a week ago and asked to return it but the dealer will not take it back. The vehicle is not safe to drive it its current state. To resolve it is going to take a considerable amount of money. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
On 6/16 we experienced a Freightliner Optiview Dash Flat Panel Delamination with resulted in lines going through the gauges on the Dash. The Dash appears to be functioning with the defect. Initially we thought the flat panel display had cracked. We contacted Freightliner 24/7 Technical Support (Case #15355287) to report the issue. The Representative said that he had not heard of this issue. When in fact Freightliner had a recall on the flat panel units manufactured by Medallion Inc, that our Motorhome was not included based on the 2020 model year. We asked the Freightliner representative if the Dash flat panel could stop working which would present a safety issues while traveling down …
The instrument panel located on the dash is a digital display. There are cracks forming making the view difficult to see air in the tanks or speed. This is built on a Freightliner chassis. I have seen other RV forums where this is a common problem. This cracking will continue to get worse making it difficult to see any instruments on the panel.
All rear and side marker lights stop functioning without notice. The FCCC Motorhome Chassis rear PDMs is at fault, again (reference NHTSA #20V-404 with at least 2 notices). FCCC provided a work around for PDMs that took care of potential loss of brake and turn signal lights that stop functioning. Unfortunately the marker lights potential issues has not been addressed. Marker lights that do not function correctly increase the risk of a crash after sunset (at nights).
The contact owns a 2015 Tiffin Allegro Open Road. The contact stated while the RV was parked, the contact became aware that the console cabinet screws had detached. The contact stated that due to the failure, the console cabinet had lowered and several of the screws had fallen onto the floor. The RV was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 30,064.
Built in TPMS system failing by year 3. Know Freightliner problem. Batteries also dead in TPMS by year 3. âOut of warrantyâ. Safety issue as tire related incidents one of the largest causes for accidents and death. Freightliner knows they have a bad system but refuses to provide customer service. Well known issue if you look at forums.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
Freightliner Chassis issued a safety recall 26V-475/F1036 concerning Low Beam Headlights. Tiffin Motorhomes mailed a notice of the recall to all registered owners and dealers with new stock units to notify them of Freightliners safety recall 26V-475/F1036.

On certain 2026 & 2026 Allegro Bus, 45 BP floorplan only, a small opening may be in the driver's side wheel well area that needs to be covered and sealed.
On certain 2027 Allegro Bus motorhomes, the tail light parameters were not correct. The turn signal would activate correctly, but once the brake was applied the brake light would override the turn signal. Instead of updating the parameters in production, the wiring was modified.
Ford Motor Company issued recall 26V-235 to inspect and repair as needed, the front axle hub assembly which may be missing the spindle nut and cotter pin. Tiffin Motorhomes forwarded a copy of the recall notice to stock units and owners of involved units.
Tiffin issued a technical service bulletin to remove a reverse signal that automatically triggers the docking lights to illuminate which is overloading and causing a false fault on the FCCC instrument cluster.
Daimler contacted Tiffin stating that the tie rod on the front axle may not have been installed properly, which can result in tie rod separation without warning and a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Daimler Truck sent letter to Tiffin Motorhomes to send to customers. Problem stated is that certain FCCC XC chassis equipped with Mobileye Lane Tracking and alert system; the vehicle's lane tracking system fails to alert the driver of unintended lane departures if the turn signal or hazard lamps are not activated upon startup. Solution: Parameter will be updated to enable the lane tracking system. Customer is told to contact an authorized DTNA dealer to arrange to have the campaign performed.
TriMark brought to Tiffinâs attention that on certain 2025 and 2026 Allegro Breeze; 2025 and 2026 Allegro Bus; 2025 and 2026 Allegro RED 360; 2025 and 2026 Byway; 2025 and 2026 Phaeton; 2025 and 2026 Zephyr Motorhomes that are equipped with PTL entry doors with a TriMark entry lock, owners may experience a lock out situation. TriMark has notified Tiffin Motorhomes that there is a possible condition where the exterior entrance door handle mechanism can bypass the inside linkage causing a lock-out situation whereby the door cannot be opened from the exterior handle. TriMark is replacing all in
Tiffin sent out an addendum to be added to Owner's Manuals that states, "Tiffin Motorhomes recommends that all diesel units be refueled using standard automotive-grade diesel fuel pumps, rather than high-flow commercial truck stop pumps. The fuel delivery rate from commercial truck stop pumps is often too aggressive for motorhome fuel systems, which are not designed to handle rapid fuel intake. Using high-flow commercial truck stop pumps can result in overflow, spillage, premature shutoff, or even damage to the fuel fill components."
Stopped using the lights we had been using due to expense. Replaced with these, but these new lights have to be wired in instead of just clicking in. These are the instructions to wire in.
Due to change in design of front cap the font side marker light is no longer integrated with the headlight. It now has its own spot. Production did not realize, and side marker light was left off.
Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2027, owners most often name: equipment, structure, unknown or other. 127 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
