On [XXX] I bought an RV from Camping World in CO. At the time of purchase, I was not informed that any of the tires installed on the vehicle were retread tires, nor was I told that a retread tire size 245/70R19.5 had been installed on the front steering axle of a passenger vehicle. On [XXX], while traveling from Arizona back to Colorado, the front passenger-side tire suffered a catastrophic failure when the tread separated from the tire. The failure occurred while we were descending a 6% mountain grade with 3 adults, 1 child, 2 dogs and 1 cat onboard. When the tread separated, it caused extensive damage to the RV, including destruction of the brake line, braking system, and ABS system. My bo…

Iâm concerned about the bbq propane compartment getting hairline cracks and the brass shut off valve thatâs made of brass and dropping down to the road and getting road rash till it grinds through the shut off valve. I just read on a Thor Facebook forum that this happened to a 2016 Thor Windsport 34P. I have the pictures he posted. I asked AI Gemini, apparently this is a known and well documented safety issue. I can forward the link to the AI report. Will link here if this works. The pictures are mine (intact) and the other two are his 2016 motorhome. The contact owns a 2018 Thor Motor Coach Windsport. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving in cold temperatures, the windshield immediately became foggy. The defroster was activated but only the center vents operated as intended, while the far left and right vents failed to work as intended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the OE system had two hoses connecting to the distribution box and A/C, but had no way for air to reach the far right and left vents. The vehicle was repaired by modifying the system to direct the air to all the vents. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was appro…
While driving on a crowded freeway a wooden structure fell from the ceiling of my motorhome and landed on the dashboard inches from my steering wheel. If it had hit my steering wheel or my hands, I would have been involved in a multiple vehicle collision. Thank God, I was able to safely pull over to the shoulder to check for damage. The beam was too heavy for me to move it. I drove it to a Camping World repair facility. The repair technician inspected the damage. He told me the support structure fell because it was held up by only one screw. Please note the comments for Job#4 in the repair invoice I hope to attach. I tried to upload some photos of the fallen structure, but I couldn't upload …
The contact owns a 2022 Thor Motor Coach Windsport RV built on a 2020 Ford F-53 chassis. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, a wooden beam used to deflect airflow from the outer venting fell from the ceiling of the RV. The heavy beam fell inches away from the contact's hands that were on the steering wheel. The contact pulled over after the failure but could not move the beam due to the weight. Despite the failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to the RV dealer where it remained. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The beam was reinstalled, and the RV was repaired. The contact expressed concerns that the failure might reoccur, and …
The contact owns a 2018 Thor Motor Coach Wind sport. The contact stated that while the RV was parked, the contact became aware that the front chassis was fractured. The RV was taken to the dealer where the RV was diagnosed, and it was determined that the front chassis had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,900.
The propane heater on our motorhome has been cycling on the high limit switch since new. This is due to insufficient airflow across the heat exchanger. It is also the source of intermittent carbon monoxide alarms being activated. We have had this unsuccessfully repaired under warranty. The cycling continues. If other units of this model series were built the same way, I suspect this is a problem common to all. This also creates a fire risk should the high limit switch be operated enough times for it to fail. I am now using an electric heater, but this requires I be hooked up to electric service.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
Thor Motor Coach (TMC) has been made aware of several incidents involving trailer hitch receivers installed on motorhomes, similar to yours. These issues were caused by the use of drop hitches and hitch extensions that placed higher-than-expected forces on the hitch receiver assembly. If you use your motorhome to tow, please follow the recommended instructions in your ownerâs manual. THE USE OF DROP HITCHES AND/OR HITCH EXTENSIONS WHILE TOWING WILL PLACE LARGER STRESSES ON THE HITCH AND CAN LEAD TO FAILURE. TMC is requesting that you inspect your motorhomeâs hitch receiver at your earlie

On your vehicle, the rear axle may contain an inadequate volume of lubricating oil. An inadequate volume of rear axle lubricant may result in rear wheel bearing damage potentially leading to bearing seizure. Bearing seizure may lead to rear axle or driveshaft failure. A rear axle or driveshaft failure may result in loss of vehicle motive power, loss of transmission park function, and loss of parking brake function, increasing the risk of a crash. This affects the following Thor Motor Coach products: model year 2021/2022 Ace, Challenger, Freedom Traveler, Hurricane, Miramar, Outlaw, and Wi
On your vehicle, it may be possible that the engine cover insulation does not fully extend to the perimeter of the factory engine cover. In addition, vehicles built on a Ford chassis may have higher engine compartment temperatures during certain idle conditions. This may result in elevated temperatures at certain areas of the engine cover surface in the passenger compartment on both driver and passenger sides. Direct and continuous contact with exposed skin at these locations may cause skin irritation and/or a minor burn. This affects the following Thor Motor Coach products: model year 20
On certain model year 2021 Hurricane & Windsport Motorhomes built on a 2020 Ford F53 Chassis, the fog light relay will buzz at a certain voltage range. The fix will be to install a harness to the fog light relay.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Preliminary Evaluation, PE24023, on August 14, 2024, to investigate allegations of Thor Motor Coach motorhome frame or trailer hitch structure cracking and separating. The hitch was manufactured by Lippert and installed by Thor as standard original equipment. ODI received eight Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) describing the hitch structure cracking. If not caught in time, a cracked hitch can fully fracture and separate from the vehicle. O
On November 23, 2020, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE20021 to investigate allegations of inoperative Trimark THP 060-1650 door lock/latches originally equipped on model years (MY) 2015-2017 Class A and Class C motorhomes.ODI received forty-six Vehicle Owner’s Questionnaires (VOQs) describing consumers being locked in or out of their vehicles. Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2024, owners most often name: visibility/wiper, structure, equipment. 39 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
