The contact owns a 2022 Rivian R1T. The contact stated that while driving 20 MPH, the steering wheel was extremely loose. The steering wheel failed to turn as intended. The tow truck driver was able to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The technicians were unable to duplicate the failure. After retrieving the vehicle for sixteen days, while driving at highway speeds and making a turn, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a fractured steering rack. The vehicle was repaired. The contact believed that the dealer was negligent. I am reporting repeated suspension and structural failures involving my 2022 Rivian R1T. In April 2026, at approximately 90,537 miles, Rivian performed a comprehensive inspection and found both front lower control arm bushings torn, the right rear damper leaking, and the rear subframe cracked. Rivianâs own service documentation specifically stated that the vehicle was âunsafe to operate due to damage to the rear subframeâ and recommended that the vehicle be towed. Rivian subsequently replaced the rear subframe, both front lower control arms, the right rear damper, and serviced the hydraulic damper system. The April repair invoice totaled approximately $9,953. Approximately five mont…

The vehicle consistently will not kneel when parking. This all started after a software update in Feb/2026. Rivian is stating there is nothing wrong and the vehicle is behaving as expected. The vehicle needs to properly kneel so that my passenger can safely exit/enter the vehicle. The problem happens every time I park in my driveway.
The seat belt came completely dislodged from the seat base as my passenger was getting into the car and fastening their seat belt
Was parking and when I hit the park button. A lot of error lights came on. After a reset, I have an Airbag needs service error.
After gently removing the fabric cover of our Cybex Eternis S All-In-One car seat to wash it according to the manufacturer's care instructions, and then putting the cover back on, the car ride immediately following, the red plastic pieces designed to hold the cover in place completely snapped off. This structural failure exposed two sharp, unshielded metal screws directly in the child's seating area. Because these screws were left fully exposed by the broken plastic, they created an immediate laceration hazard. As a direct result of this defect, my young daughter's leg was cut by the exposed screws while using the seat.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2022–2027, owners most often name: forward collision avoidance, air bags, suspension. 127 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
