We bought a 2022 Polaris Slingshot R with Roll Cage and Canvas Top from Private Club Motors. The rims were a little beat up, but as far as we knew, that was just cosmetic. It was closing time and pouring down rain when we left the dealership. I was driving behind the Slingshot and could tell there was a definite problem with the wheels, as they looked like they were wobbling. When we stopped to get gas, the driver said it was vibrating like crazy. I texted the sales guy immediately to let him know there was a problem with the tires. He said to bring it back in and they would take care of it. So, we came back on Thursday, 2 days later, because of rain and the service guy said Thursday would b…

While driving the 2021 slingshot R it will randomly be thrown into neutral! I was on the side roads and then got onto highway and it slammed into neutral when I had a F350 right on my butt and almost killed me!

The contact owns a 2022 Polaris Slingshot. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 45 MPH on a two-lane road, the brake pedal was depressed while making a left turn, and the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle independently shifted to neutral and became inoperable. The contact stated that the vehicle revved; however, the vehicle failed to shift into gear. The driver drifted over to the side of the roadway. The driver was able to restart the vehicle, and the vehicle operated as intended; however, the failure recurred while depressing the brake pedal. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not dia…
During a 150-mile ride, I experienced that while braking for a stop or a traffic slowdown, this unit shifted into neutral, and all of the dash warning lights came on at the same time. This happened 5 times during the ride. I had to coast to the side of the road, shut down, and restart the engine. Once, almost being rear-ended by a vehicle, and I didn't have the power to get to the side of the road. Once this occurs, the unit will not allow you to shift it at all without a shutdown and restart, it is stuck in neutral until this is done. To me, this is creating a dangerous situation of possibly being rear-ended in traffic by not being able to get out of the way because of no propulsion. This …

The contact stated that after the vehicle was parked and unoccupied, the vehicle independently rolled forward causing the front of the vehicle to crash into the rear end of another unoccupied parked vehicle twice in the same day. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed by his insurance company to call the NHTSA hotline to file a complaint. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mil…

Since opening it, we have met with dealer service personnel, interviewed owners, monitored various web forums, and requested information from Polaris. We are unaware of any additional wheel failures occurring in the six months since we began investigating this subject. Currently, no actionable defect trend exists which would justify continuing to investigate this matter. Consequently, this PE is clo

No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
