I purchased this vehicle brand new in 2021. Since then, I have experienced a very concerning safety issue on multiple occasions involving the automatic emergency braking system. While driving normally, with the vehicle operating without any apparent problems, the emergency braking system has suddenly activated and warning lights have appeared on the dashboard, even though there was no vehicle, pedestrian, object, or other obstruction in front of me that would have required emergency braking. This has happened to me several times and is extremely frightening. During the most recent incident, the vehicle behind me had to quickly go around my car to avoid rear-ending me after my vehicle unexp…
The communication quality with the infotainment system does not work properly. Whenever you try to use Siri the audio cuts out and sounds distorted. This also happens during phone calls and it is a two way problem. You sound distorted to the person youâre calling and they also sound distorted to you. This problem happens with both wireless and wired connections as well as with and without Android Auto and CarPlay. This poses a serious and dangerous communication risk, especially during an emergency when you might need to call authorities or assistance. You would be required to manually disconnect your deviceâs connection from your car while driving which is both illegal and dangerous t…
While stopped at a light and the engine safety to save gas comes on and sitting for an extended period of time will cause my car to âstartâ and while my foot is on the brake the car will jerk forward it has done this on 6 separate occasions
Rear backup camera does not work. Screen shows vertical lines and I cannot see to backup. My safety & others are at risk because I cannot see behind me. No, no and no to the last questions.
The back up camera frequently goes blank when the car is put in reverse. This is a safety hazard as I can't see what is behind me when I am backing up. Upon further research, this is common in Nissan Sentras around this time but my specific car was not under the recall. There were multiple reports of faulty wiring causing the same issues. There were no warnings prior to this failure and it has been going on for over a year.
On XXX, while driving a 2026 Nissan Sentra rental with approximately 5,000 miles, I was traveling about 75 mph on a freeway in [XXX]. The vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly rapidly decelerated/braked and became disabled. I had no warning before the failure and was barely able to get partially out of the travel area. After stopping, the vehicle was effectively immobilized. I could not shift it into neutral or otherwise move it safely completely out of danger. The steering/wheels would not allow us to move the vehicle normally. During the incident, the vehicle displayed a message stating that a system/software update was required. During the update process, I was unable to operate the emergency…
Following a severe rainstorm, heavy water intrusion occurred inside the vehicle. The rear passenger floorboard and the interior of the trunk were completely saturated with water. Immediately following this water intrusion, the factory backup camera system completely failed and stopped functioning, creating an immediate rear visibility hazard when operating the vehicle in reverse. The vehicle was taken to an authorized brand dealership for inspection. The dealership confirmed that the backup camera module failed explicitly due to liquid/water damage, and the failed part is available for inspection. However, the dealership stated that all factory weather seals and body drains are clear and func…
I am reporting a potential safety defect involving my 2019 Nissan Sentra. In June 2025, when my vehicle had approximately 56,000 miles, the overhead console located in the ceiling of my vehicle suddenly detached and fell while I was driving. The console struck me in the face. This was completely unexpected and created a potentially dangerous situation because I was operating the vehicle at the time. A component falling from the ceiling and striking the driver could cause the driver to become distracted, lose control of the vehicle, or potentially cause a crash. After the incident, I examined the overhead console and found that the components/attachment points that secured the console to t…

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2026, owners most often name: power train, electrical system, unknown or other. 3,267 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
