On June 2, 2026, a spontaneous fire ignited in my 2021 Nissan NV 3500 HD Van w/ approx 65,741 miles near the instrument panel while the vehicle was parked in my driveway at about 11:00am. It had last been driven at about 7:45am when we observed the turn signal blinkers were acting erratically, blinking rapidly. The fire burst a hole in the drivers side of the windshield . Nobody was injured and the fire was contained to just the van thanks to swift action by my wife and neighbor to use fire extinguishers followed by prompt response by local police and fire department. This incident couldâve been catastrophic with fatalities had someone been driving or if the fire had spread to other ca…
While driving the vehicle on the highway it suddenly it made a ticking noise and would not go more than 40 miles per hour. We limped into a repair shop. The upper catalyst crumbled and was sucked into the lower catalyst causing total failure. The vehicle was completely incapacitated on the roadway. This is all available for inspection. The vehicle has less than 7,000 miles on it when it failed. It left a group stranded and had to be pushed off the road. The problem was confirmed at a dealership with a quoted price of $26,000 to replace the entire long block. There were no warnings or lights before it happened, but the check engine light came on right when the vehicle slowed down to 40.…
Odometer Fraud. The contact was considering purchasing a 2018 Nissan NV. The contact the vehicle's odometer reading indicated 65,666. After obtaining the Carfax, the mileage listed was 208,000. .
ongoing electrical and ECM communication issues with my 2018 Nissan NV2500. The vehicle is experiencing serious fault codes involving loss of communication with the ECM/PCM and transmission control systems, creating a potential safety concern and reliability issue. The diagnostic scan produced the following active codes: U0100 â Lost Communication With ECM/PCM A U1000 â CAN Communication Circuit P1815 â Manual Mode Switch/Circuit / Computer Supply Voltage These faults indicate a failure in the vehicleâs electronic communication network and engine control communication system. The issue affects drivability and raises concerns about unexpected stalling, transmission malfunction, loss o…
While idling, the vehicle shutoff on itâs own and restarted. Then again while stopped at a red light and again while driving to a mechanic. No warnings or indications that this would happen. It put myself and children at risk because the roads are full of snow leaving us no place for us to pull over. Now the air pressure, windshield fluid and traction control lights are on, whereas they were not previously lit. Iâm currently at an independent service center waiting for diagnosis. ***Update: The mechanic gave us the code which shows the crankshaft needs to be replaced.
I was driving 75MPH down the interstate when out of nowhere my engine started acting funny. It started to slow down and then the check engine light came on. As we were exiting the engine started stuttering. We were able to get it to a gas station. It was towed to a mechanic where they found that there were multiple cylinder misfires. They also found a hole in the cylinder head/valve cover. With the vehicle slowing down on its own it could've caused a wreck. The stuttering on the offramp put my family at risk of being hit while trying to turn onto the street for the gas station. I do not believe the problem has been reproduced since it has been towed since then. We are taking care to not dr…

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2012–2021, owners most often name: unknown or other, electrical system, air bags. 70 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
