What Nissan Murano owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Nissan Murano safety recalls or check your VIN.

yes i took my car into the shop on 9/25/2026 and they fixed two transmission leaks and my sway bar endlink but they also noticed that the bolts on my subframe were loose and they don't know how long it was like that I bought the vehicle in may of 2026 the shop said it was like the bolts were loose they told me that i need to keep an eye on it. This issue needs to be fixed with nissian
The engine and transmission do not run smoothly. It hesitates, and it doesnât downshift correctly. The engine revs up and will not shift gears properly. Itâs jerky. Everything about this engine and transmission feels strange for a luxury car. Sometimes, I donât feel safe trying to pass somebody. You wouldnât know how bad of a ride this car is from a 20-minute or even a 10-minute test drive. Itâs something you have to own and experience to understand. Whatever they did with this car feels unsafe to drive, especially with the engine stuttering and hesitating the way it does. And I only have 7,700 miles on my car.
The contact owns a 2026 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH and depressing the brake pedal to avoid sudden merging traffic and to decelerate, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly. The brake pedal was depressed to come to a complete stop and another vehicle behind avoided crashing in to the rear of the vehicle. In addition, the contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH, the instrument panel rebooted independently. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it remained for further investigation. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the same local dealer where the trunk was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware …
I am assuming it is the power train/transmission. that keeps malfunctioning. This has happened NUMEROUS times and appears to be happening more and more often. i was almost in a collision because of it. It definitely puts my safety and the safety of others at risk. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer and they are now telling me (verbally) that I cannot bring it back Unless I get some kind of warning on the vehicle. Yes, I took it into the Nissan Dealer in [XXX] and they could not replicate the problem. They originally assumed I was doing something (accidently hitting the shifters) but the Rep (Dustin) stated he drove it at the speeds it was happening and could not…
I was going down a hill and when I tried to slow down the brakes went to the floor and I hit the drive gear button twice and it went back to normal. I did not notice anything on the dash screens that I am aware of.
This is the second set of sunvisors on my Murano definite safety hazard when hitting a slight bump in the road, they fall down blocking your vision all of a sudden. While driving, I have to push it back up and most of the time it falls right back down. This is something that Nissan should be held accountable for as $200 a set is very expensive when they keep breaking. If I get hurt because of them in a car accident, I will be suing Nissan.
brakes/ ABS brake system: Still in use currently. Not reproducible, very erratic; once every few days of operation. No outside inspections to date. No warning lights of messsages/ error codes before or after the brake failure. Event: Brake will fail on rare occasions randomly. No particular event precedes the failure: (corner; speed; trip duration; road vibration; etc). When brake is pressed, pedal drops to near the floor before giving some back pressure. No noticeable speed reduction here. If brakes are pumped they will begin to delevope pressure with some reduction in velocity. After several more pumps the brake activation returns and car can be stopped. No accident from this problem yet.…
The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was driving unstable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and the suspension was inspected. The mechanic became aware of cracked bushings on the upper control arm on both sides of the vehicle. The independent mechanic performed an alignment; however, after the alignment was performed, the steering instability and handling failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V170000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included in the recall repair.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-spe
Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2026, owners most often name: unknown or other, power train, service brakes. 1,374 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
