I bought this car 2 years ago. It was changed to white sometime in its past. There are recalls that are old that were not fixed on this car and I am having a problem with it. It stopped 2xâs in the middle of traffic and then a rattling sound started and the check engine light is on. I had a friend look up the codes and the code and my description are the exact recall reason. I know this car is old but I just got it. Iâm disabled and on a fixed income. I just want to see if I can get the recall honored.

As I entered my neighborhood, I decided to stop and see what was happening. Put my car in park and released the hood. Fire came from everywhere underneath the hood . I jumped out of my car and called 911. On hold for 7 minutes, hung up called the fire department, they directed me to call 911. Stayed on hold another 2-3 minutes and called none emergency police station. Dispatcher contacted fire de…

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2011–2017, owners most often name: engine, power train, fuel/propulsion system. 478 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
