I was informed through a trade publication that Roadmaster had issued a recall of the towbar due to potential failure of a "roll pin" seated into a "stinger" assembly that could cause the towbar to separate and fail. I contacted Roadmaster on XXX, and recieved a response on XXX with vague and incomplete information relating to whether I could continue to use the towbar, although they described the matter as "urgent". The notice is at their webpage at [XXX] . I have inquired as to the proper method to inspect my towbar to determine if can continue to be used, but have recieved no reponse in over 3 weeks. The stated remedy is to provide a replacement for portions of the towbar to affected …
Adhesive inside the dashboard display is failing. It started at approximately 20,000 miles and has suddenly gotten much worse 1 year later at approximately 30,000 miles. This failure is causing "bubbles" in the display, which is interfering with the clarity/readability of the gauges, including the speedometer, which I consider to be a safety issue. Ultimately, I'm concerned that the screen may fail completely while I'm driving.
The laminated glass instrument/gauge cover has separated making it very difficult to see gauges for air, temp and speed.
The contact owns a 2018 Newmar Ventana 3715 RV built on a 2019 Freightliner XC-R Chassis. The contact stated that the tail lights, the driver's side brake light, and the driver's side turn signal light had failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the secondary fuse harness was installed under NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V00H000(Electrical System, Exterior Lighting); however, the failure persisted. The dealer determined that the rear-mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM) needed to be replaced; however, the repair was not covered under the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 33,970…
The Motorhome is equipped with a computer controlled Comfort Drive steering system ( also known as ReAX-C and other names) that is supposed to keep the vehicle going straight at all times with low steering efforts in side winds, pot holes or against the crown of the road. The Comfort Drive is supposed offer consistent steering feel and allow the driver to concentrate on driving with reduced fatigue. This system appears to only be working part of the time - and that is only when driving on a perfectly flat road with little or no wind. On a recent 4,000 mile cross country trip on Interstate highways in this vehicle with crowned roads, pot holes, construction zones and windy conditions it wa…
Driving west on Interstate 80 in Iowa heading to South Dakota, when smoke started to appear in rear of motor home outside . Pulled over to find that diesel fuel was spraying all over the motor, very fortunate that it did not catch on fire. It is a Cummins 8.9 diesel motor # 73844606 . Had it towed to a licensed repair shop and the mechanic found that the # 1 fuel injector line had a hair line crack causing the fuel leak. Contacted Cummins on this issue and they said there is no recall on this problem , because there is not enough engines having this problem. I found on a RV Forum that this issue has happened to other RV owners. The forum also stated that there are other injector lines …
The SCR/DPF/DEF emissions control system is faulty and results in the vehicle becoming undrivable at unpredictable instances when no actual fault or deficiency exists. This may result in the driver becoming stranded in area with no cell phone signal and during times of harsh weather. It may also leave motorists stranded in unsafe locations with insufficient room to park safely and no capability to move to a safe location. This is a result of the system âde-ratingâ due to faulty sensors or DEF delivery systems or a variety of other causes. Because the system will derate the engine when the sensors indicate a low DEF condition when the DEF tank is sufficiently full, it is impossible for th…
On Jan 2, 2021, I filed NHTSA complaint #11386115. To date I have heard nothing other than an acknowledgement of receipt of the complaint. I would like to point out that this problem is on-going, increasing in severity and number of occurrences, and can easily be considered a life safety issue. As Iâm sure you are aware, vehicles conveying human beings are becoming randomly and unpredictability stranded due to faulty sensors on otherwise properly functioning emission systems. This problem is easily resolvable with a simple policy modification, but because it involves emissions, and by extension theoretically the environment (although in this case this is not accurate), there is no appare…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

Winegard has identified an issue with some Travâler Pro products when the auto-stow feature is enabled. In a specific scenario, when the auto-stow feature is active, the firmware may occasionally encounter difficulty in recognizing the stowed position. No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
