The BrakeSync valve is located too close to the turbo charger. In hot weather and slow traffic or high engine load as when climbing long grades enough heat builds up to cause the high pressure hose from the air supply tank to the regulator valve to blow.
The contact owns a 2022 Newmar Kountry Star RV. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds over a bump in the roadway, the comfort drive feature failed to operate as designed. Due to the failure, excessive effort was needed to steer the RV. The contact stated that after restarting the RV, the feature was reset and resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the feature was reprogrammed; however, the failure returned soon after service. The contact notified the dealer of the failure and was informed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The RV was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 13,0…
5 windows were replaced under the Lippert 21E-047 recall. The replacement windows were no better than the original recalled windows. One of the new replacement windows suddenly fell off the vehicle in traffic after only 4 months. The glue bond holding the window to the hinge failed. I sent pictures to Lippert showing the failed joint. Lippert refuses to have the defective replacement window repaired and shows no interest in evaluating the quality of the other replacement windows. This is a very dangerous situation as another one of the replacement windows could fall off and hit another vehicle causing severe damage and injury.
The Comfort Drive system on the Kountry Star has failed 12 times in the first year (7500 miles). Eleven of the faults have been while driving and once while sitting still. Vehicle was checked by Freightliner shop who in turn spoke to Newmar. Newmar advice was the system was functioning properly! On a 1200 mile trip earlier this month the system failed 3 separate times. When faults are thrown, an error is displayed on dash staring, âSteering Effort CTRL Disabledâ. Suddenly it appears to NOT have power steering. Under a stand an occasional fault however this is excessive and presents a danger.
The cable supplying 12V power to the RV generator (the house generator in the front of the coach) shorted out while driving causing failure of 12V chassis control systems and accessories including: Transmission control (i.e. could not shift gears) Instrument panel Turn signals Horn Rear view camera Engine brake control. The vehicle air brakes were operating and I was able to pull over to a safe location. While the vehicle engine could be restarted, none of the 12V accessories at the drivers station were functional particularly the gear shift control, rendering the vehicle inoperable. The Freightliner repair facility found the shorted cable inside the generator enclosure. Their opinion …
Four times since taking possession of this 2022 RV, a red warning was displayed on the screen saying âPark Brake Not Setâ. This requires the operator to insure the brake is actually set, chock tires and act to prevent movement. This exposes the operator and those nearby to potential injury or death. In addition, the âSteering Effort Control Disabledâ yellow warning appears with the previous warning. Freightliner and Newmar states that a red warning requires immediate corrective action. While this problem has not been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, multiple owners of this model year have stated this occurs. This vehicle has not been inspected as the dealership …

No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
