I purchased a 2020 Newmar Dutchstar RV on [XXX] and first noticed the Tire Pressure Monitoring Sytem (TPMS) start to malfunction shortly after. The first indication of the malfunction were nuisance warnings stating tire overheat conditions, followed by constant communication warnings and multiple tires not indicating anything at all. The current state of the TPMS as of today [XXX] is it does not function at all with a constant communication error displayed on the dash panel. I received SF644A-C from DTNA in March 2022 stating the TPMS controller software required an update and some antenna modifications were required. I received FL935A-C and NHTSA #22V-379 in July 2022 stating the same inf…
The digital dash is delaminating and makes it hard to see all of the safety items displayed on the dash. Everything is distorted, this is a SAFETY ISSUE. This is a know issue that occurs on many Freightliner products. ( The chassis is Freightliner ) Freightliner will not accept any responsibility beyond the normal warranty timeframe. Freightliner wants $ 7,000.00 ~ for the repair and then how long will this last?? I appears that this is a major issue for Freightliner chassis, and you have to do is google it and many posts come up discussing this problem. Apparently auto manufactures know how to make a digital dash that does not delaminate.
The contact owns a 2020 Newmar Dutch Star RV. The contact stated that while the RV was parked and occupied, the contact attempted to start the RV and became aware that the instrument panel was displaying a black screen. The dealer was contacted. The RV was not taken to a dealer nor an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The RV was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the RV was out of warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 27,000.
Passenger entry door seal has failed and window is fogged making lane changing or viewing very difficult and unsafe. I have tried to contact Newmar and their reply was giving me a statement that my coach is out of warranty and I need to contact a 3rd party vendor for replacement at my cost. I would think a window separation would be a concern for Newmar Corp. I have read many other complaints from Newmar owners.
Last week I had the air dryer filter replaced at Colton Truck Terminal in Colton Ca. Subsequently, I did the complete 7 step air brake system check and discovered that during total loss of air pressure , the emergency brakes would not auto apply. I replaced the dash hand valve and the problem still persists, so I installed the original valve and took the coach back to Colton Truck Terminal to diagnose the problem. Attached is the paper work from Colton Truck Terminal diagnosing the issue and the correction of that issue. Also on that paperwork is the vehicle information. Apparently, two air lines were crossed going into the primary air tank during chassis assembly. Once corrected, the …
My Newmar motorhome has 20,000 miles on it. When driving on the highway the steering intermittantly gets about 60% harder to steer for approximately 20 minutes then goes back to normal. It happens repeatedly and regardless of whether you are turning or going straight. Last week the problem became much worse. More importantly I was exiting the highway and the steering wheel turned by itself back to center while I was turning! Thank god I was moving slowly and was able to stop. I turned the motorhome engine off and restarted it and the steering was operational again. I called freightliner and spoke to a customer service person who said I had to bring it to a dealer which I did. Now they can no…
The Freightliner chassis under this motorhome uses a Power Distribution Module (PDM) that is a fuse panel "block" that powers several coach items, from taillights, brake lights, engine cooling, air conditioning and several other components. The PDM intermittently fails as it can't support the amount of power it must distribute without overheating and shutting off several components as you drive. Especially dangerous is the lost of rear brake and taillights. The PDM was recalled by Freightliner and was replaced with the same item. I'm only guessing that they thought they had a bad batch and replacing it with another would solve the issue. The replacements failed and they recalled the produc…
The dash displaying the instrument panel is bubbling up and it prevents you from reading your instruments. The glare it causes is dangerous. Hearing from other customers that own the same RV tells me this is a common issue and there should be a recall.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2026, owners most often name: engine, electrical system, unknown or other. 70 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
