Two things I noticed. 1. Going from a complete stop such as when waiting at a red light or stop sign, and then pressing the accelerator intermittently causes the vehicle to not respond. I see the power gauge max out but the car does not move and worse if on a hill will roll backwards before lurching forward. 2. When on the highway going 40-50 mph, I want to change lanes or pass someone, I press the accelerator and the car slows down/disengages before lurching forward. This makes tighter timing impossible and puts my safety at risk if I begin the lane change not anticipating the drop in speed/power from the car. I have taken the car to the service dept at Mini several times for this issue …
I am reporting a severe safety hazard regarding unprompted, sudden, and uneven vehicle braking that occurs exclusively when the windshield wipers are turned on. While driving in wet conditions with the windshield wipers active, the vehicle intermittently and violently applies the brakes on its own without any input on the brake pedal. This creates a sudden deceleration and causes the vehicle to pull erratically, posing an immediate risk of a rear-end collision or a loss of vehicle control.Research into the vehicle's engineering reveals that this is a severe malfunction of the Automated Brake Drying / Dry Braking feature embedded in the ABS/DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) module logic. While …
The contact owns a 2011 Mini Cooper Clubman. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing electrical failures. Several unknown warning lights blinked upon starting the vehicle, the parking lights failed, and the power windows failed to operate as intended. The contact stated that the electrical failures were due to water leak in the front driver's side footwell and on the left side of the driver's seat. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V337000 (Electrical System); however, the manufacturer informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the fai…
Anytime the wipers are on and the speed is above 50 mph, this car periodically applies the brakes to keep the rotors dry. It's an automated system that BMW's and Mini's have. However, for some reason, the vehicle now pulls hard to the right, which veers the car into the other lane. The brake pads and rotors are all new. The tires are new and the alignment is good. The brake fluid was just changed and bled. There is literally nothing wrong except for this bizarre system which is now only applying some brake pressure to the front right rotor. The car slows and pulls right suddenly without applying the brake lights. I'm worried I will get rear ended or side swipe somebody. I've resor…
I am filing this complaint against Keeler MINI in Latham, NY, and MINI USA regarding their refusal to provide a working recall remedy or alternative transportation under federal NHTSA Safety Recall 23V-337 (Footwell Control Module Moisture Intrusion). My 2011 MINI Cooper suffered an active, total failure of the Footwell Control Moduleâthe precise component identified in Recall 23V-337. The module short-circuited, creating a constant parasitic power drain that disables the battery and renders the vehicle completely un-drivable. I have been without a functioning car for over three weeks. Keeler MINI claims the recall repair will take four weeks due to parts delays, yet they explicitly refu…
The contact owns a 2026 Mini Cooper. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH with the AC unit engaged, the driverâs side window shattered. The contact stated that the window was not impacted to cause the window to shatter. The contact stated that the failure had occurred approximately 15 minutes after the AC unit had been engaged. The contact was able to drive to the nearest BMW dealer. The dealer did not diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,255.
This vin waa not included in a recall however had recall issues it obtained water in the footwell which mini has a recall issue for this and the car was caught on fire it is at the dealership in [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
On my 2015 MINI Cooper Hardtop 4 Door (VIN: [XXX]), the driver's side halogen headlight suddenly stopped working. When I attempted to replace the bulb, I discovered that the headlight connector/pig tail had melted on one side, one of the electrical wires had burned completely through, and there was a strong odor coming from the rear of the headlight assembly. This was not simply a burned-out bulb. The connector and wiring sustained heat damage that appears to have resulted from an electrical failure. Because of the melted connector, burned wiring, and strong burning small, I believe this created a potential fire hazard. It must be noted that there have not been any changes to the lighting o…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

Due to an implementation error in various OBD diagnostics in the vehicle's control units, in very rare cases itmay happen that stored fault memory codes (DTCs) and the MIL (warning light) are not automaticallydeleted even though the underlying malfunction has already been rectified. This does not comply with the statutory OBD specifications.
After a factory reset of the head unit, the navigation voice input cannot be activated or deactivated.
During vehicle start-up the Secure Element (SE) of the BCP may fail causing communication errors. TheCheck Control message âDrive carefully. Driving stabilisation.â will appear. NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
In a Consent Order executed on December 17, 2015, BMW of North America, LLC (BMW NA) admitted that it violated the Safety Act by: failing to conduct a timely recall for Recall No. 15V-450; failing to file certain quarterly recall reports in a timely manner; failing to timely notify vehicle owners of the existence of a defect or noncompliance; failing to promptly advise NHTSA of delays with the beginning or completion dates for mailing owner or dealer notifications; and failing to timely submit c
The Safety Act requires, among other things, that a manufacturer notify its dealers of defects related to motor vehicle safety and non-compliances with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and, in turn, that a dealer not sell and deliver a new vehicle subject to a recall unless the recall remedy has been performed (49 U.S.C. ?? 30112(a), 30120(i)).NHTSA opened AQ15-003 to determine whether International Autos, Inc. of West Allis, Wisconsin complied with the requirements of the National Traffic

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2026, owners most often name: electrical system, engine, air bags. 970 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
