My 2019 Mercedes-Benz Metris, with approximately 78,000 miles, developed a check-engine light and diagnostic code P052E/P052E71 for a failure involving the positive crankcase ventilation/crankcase ventilation regulator system. I was advised that the repair will cost approximately $3,000 because the failed ventilation component is part of a larger assembly. I am concerned because Mercedes-Benz has acknowledged this same P052E71 crankcase ventilation failure on other Mercedes-Benz models equipped with the M274 engine and has provided extended warranty coverage on certain vehicles. My Metris also uses the M274 engine, but Mercedes-Benz has excluded the Metris from that extended coverage. I h…
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris. The contact received a notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V482000 (Tires); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted; however, the recall repairs were denied, and the contact was asked to take the vehicle back to the original dealer who sold the vehicle. The contact reached out to several other local dealers; however, the assistance was provided due to the vehicle having approximately 18inch rims. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, but no assistance was provided. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The power steering randomly fails in the vehicle and works again when the vehicle is restarted. Here is the link to Mercedes's inspection: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding my Mercedes-Benz Metris serviced at Mercedes-Benz Coconut Creek (Florida) under Recall VS2LAS561 â 9789VMCRC (Customer Service Case #20781216). On February 12th, I delivered the vehicle for recall service. It was returned on February 23rd without the recall properly completed. Invoice no. 328897 â tag T9514 lists replacement of four Continental 235/55 R17 tires and installation of four PRS sensor repair kits. These items were not installed. The tires were placed in the trunk, and only three used sensors are present; one wheel has no sensor. Additionally, the dealership provided 235/55 R17 tires, while the vehicle is homologated for 225/5…
This incident happened to an employee driving a mercedes metris for work. The metris was involved in a multi car accident. The driver reported that the steering wheel "took over" and would not let them maneuver out of the way to avoid a vehicle that had rear ended the vehicle in front of them. This accident took place at about 40mph and included multiple vehicles rear ending the vehicle in front of them. The metris was the third or fourth vehicle in a line of approximately 6 to 7 total vehicles. The air bags did not deploy, even though the vehicle was struck from the front and the back and the other vehicles involved had deployed air bags. The seatbelt also did not engage, causing the driver…
Fuel smell in the engine compartment and visible leaking fuel on the lower hoses per NHTSA Campaign Number 18V837000. I previously complained about this in April 2025 (ID 11669847). Dealer inspected in April 2025 and replaced the lower hose, but I still would smell fuel. After a lot of my own troubleshooting over the last six months, I have determined that when the car has sat un-used for over 24 hours, the rubber fuel lines shrink just enough that the next time the fuel system is primed (pre-start routine when you unlock the car, or start the car), a small amount of fuel leaks out at the connection. If the car sits for weeks and then you start it up, fuel will visibly leak out of the rubber…
My 2022 Mercedes-Benz Metris recently experienced a sudden onset of engine issues, triggering the Check Engine Light. Diagnostic data retrieved from the vehicle (via onboard telematics) revealed the following error codes via onboard OBD GPS Bouncie: P0300: Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected P0301: Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected P0304: Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected Upon professional inspection, a mechanic diagnosed the root cause of these misfires as critically low fuel pressure resulting from a failed low-pressure fuel pump. The mechanic advised that the fuel pump requires immediate replacement. These symptoms (low fuel pressure causing engine misfire and potential stall) align exactly…
See attached document for complaint. I wanted to express my displeasure with the manner in which the above reference recall was conducted. The timeline left many owners with expensive replacement bills for new tires to replace inadequate tires that were installed as OEM on our vans. The message boards tell a story of frustration for a large group of consumers. As you know the recall was originally made in July of 2022. The notice to dealers went out in September of 2022. Mercedes Benz appeared to really drag their feet on a solution to the issue with the first small number of remedies (219 out of 24,359) in the second quarter of 2024. Remedies did not begin in earnest until the beginning of…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

Warning Lamp "Washer Fluid Empty" Yet Reservoir Is Not Empty Complaint: Warning lamp "washer fluid empty", even thought the washer fluid reservoir is full Cause: Insufficient electrical conductivity of the washer fluid, as the washer fluid was mixed with distilled water. Tip: The washer fluid sensor detects the electrical conductivity. If air is present without electrical conductivity between the measuring points, as is the case with an empty tank, an empty tank is detected by the sensor. Distilled water also does not have electrical conductivity, meaning that the sensor detects an empty t

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
On November 27, 2018, Daimler Vans USA, LLC submitted a Defect Information Report (DIR) to NHTSA describing two engine compartment fuel hose connection defects in certain model year (MY) 2016 and 2017 Mercedes-Benz Metris vehicles (Recall 18V-837).The recall scope includes approximately 12,383 Metris vehicles manufactured from March 2, 2015 (SOP) to March 15, 2017.The defects may result in leakage from an upper hose connection that feeds the high-pressure fuel pump or from a lower hose connectio
Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2014–2023, owners most often name: tires, fuel/propulsion system, unknown or other. 212 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
