On July 27, 2026, while driving my 2019 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 under normal conditions, the vehicle suddenly displayed a suspension warning stating, âMalfunction â Drive at Max. 50 mph.â The warning appeared while the vehicle was in motion; I had not received this suspension warning before the incident. I photographed the warning when it occurred and presented the vehicle to an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership for diagnosis and repair that same day. On July 30, the dealership confirmed in writing that the vehicle had a leaking front air strut and required replacement of the front air strut. The dealer advised that the required part did not have an established arrival date. As of A…
My 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 43, VIN [XXX] , has had a recurring safety issue with the transmission wiring harness and connector X279. Mercedes-Benz said this connector can let water in, which can cause a short circuit, overheating, and a fire risk while the car is parked and off. That is why the vehicle was covered by recall 24V445 / MBUSA Campaign 2024100002. This same issue was already addressed once before in January 2023 under MBUSA Campaign 2022080010 / NHTSA 22V-533, when the connector was checked and reworked and a bracket was installed. Even after that, the car later had to go back again on November 29, 2024 for the newer recall repair, when the original two-part harness was replace…
Recall 2024100002 for my 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 53 is listed as âCompletedâ in the manufacturerâs system, but the dealerâs service record from November 2024 clearly states that the recall part was on backorder and the repair was not performed. There is no later record of the recall ever being completed. After the recall was marked âCompleted,â multiple paid repairs were performed in the same system, including extensive electrical and engine-related work, totaling several thousand dollars. Warning messages and check-engine lights continued to appear, and the underlying issue was never properly resolved. The dealer repeatedly cleared fault codes and performed symptom-based repairs …

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
The steering column sticks in the up position. The electric motor will not move up or down. Not being able to correctly adjust the height of the steering column is a safety issue.

The recently completed recall on this vehicle back in 2021 last year for the wheel hub caps. Approximately two days ago, I drove it off the dealership and after I got home I noticed the wheel hub cap was missing from my passenger side. This is a known hazard and hasn't been remedied correctly from the last recall service it had and I'm sure it fell off again. Would I be able to get this replaced for free? Because the dealership told me it wouldn't be covered under warranty and they're asking me to fork over $120 for a plastic hub cap.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
Complaint Noises in the steering column area when steering. See example file in the attachments area: "MRSMâSchleifgeräusch_SCCMGrindingNoises. MOV". Cause Under analysis. Remedy Check which area of the steering column the noises occur in. Do the noises tend to occur at the bottom in the driver footwell or do they tend to occur in the area of the steering column switch module (MRSM/SCCM)? If the noises occur in the area of the MRSM/SCCM, work through the following points: â Loosen screws of the MRSM/SCCM and steering wheel, reâalign the MRSM/SCCM, and reâfasten the screws (see WIS). S
Complaint Repeat workshop visit for vehicle vibration while braking from 60MPH. NOTE: Although the symptom is similar to a tire or wheel vibration, it is usually readily noticeable that it is distinctly different if it happens at all times or only while braking. Cause Although the cause of the vibration is most likely due to excessive lateral runout on the rotor or hub/wheel bearing, the system as a whole needs to be checked for other possible contributors. 1. Prior collision damage. 2. Excessive vehicle sitting times without rotating components. 3. Wheel bearing/hub lateral runout. 4. Wheel m

Complaint Check Engine Light ON with DTC P012800 "The Coolant Temperature is Below the Specified Temperature" active and/or stored in the ME (N3/10). There are no drivability concerns related to this complaint. Cause Root cause varies Remedy Prior to performing any repairs for this complaint: With a cold engine, pressurize the high temp coolant circuit and while it's under pressure, release the cap on the low temp coolant circuit and check if the pressure drops right away or not. If the pressure drops, the lower coolant hoses are swapped. Correct this, fill, bleed and test drive the vehicle. I
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2016–2023, owners most often name: power train, unknown or other, electrical system. 22 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
