I noticed that my front tires were showing abnormal wear on the outer edge of both driver and passenger side front tires. I would also hear a loud popping/thumping/grinding noise coming from front tires when I would back up and then have to turn my tires to move the car to leave a parking spot, etc. The tire pressure warning light will come on and off randomly. I have checked my tire pressure and it falls directly in line with recommended pressure listed on the inside door of the car. I made an appointment at Mercedes Sewell and basically was told over the phone that this would not be anything related to a recall and that the extra warranty I purchases for tires would not cover replaceme…

Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain subject vehicles, the transmission control unit (VGS) in the automatic transmission does not meet current MBAG specifications. The polarities of the magnets in the transmission control unit (VGS) may have been inadvertently swapped. This, in turn, could lead to complaints regarding shift quality and gear lockups. Remedy MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will replace fully integrated transmission control unit (Y3/8n4) for the automatic transmission.
Complaint Noises in the steering column area when steering. See example file in the attachments area: "MRSMâSchleifgeräusch_SCCMGrindingNoises. MOV". Cause Under analysis. Complaint Repeat workshop visit for vehicle vibration while braking from 60MPH. NOTE: Although the symptom is similar to a tire or wheel vibration, it is usually readily noticeable that it is distinctly different if it happens at all times or only while braking. Cause Although the cause of the vibration is most likely due to excessive lateral runout on the rotor or hub/wheel bearing, the system as a whole needs to be checked for other possible contributors. 1. Prior collision damage. 2. Excessive vehicle sitting times without rotating components. 3. Wheel bearing/hub lateral runout. 4. Wheel m

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2016–2026, owners most often name: electrical system, engine, fuel/propulsion system. 11 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
