Steering wheel sticks while going left. Getting worse. Mazda says no recall
Steering wheel feels âstickyâ, I rented this car from Flexcar. Now Iâm without a car, because on the 5th day of driving this car the steering wheel got stuck and almost caused an accident. They are inspecting the car now, but they told me the ârecall was already repairedâ however: Iâm had the EXACT same problem as the recall. This recall with the steering wheel is NOT fixed. This car is NOT safe to drive.
The contact's wife owns a 2024 Mazda CX-90. The contact stated that while turning the steering wheel to the left, the steering wheel became stuck momentarily and there was resistance while attempting to return the steering wheel to center. There was an abnormal clicking sound coming from the steering wheel. The contact stated that additional force was needed to return the steering wheel to center. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V022000 (Steering). A diagnostic test was performed on the vehicle, and it was determined that the steering gear was inoperable and needed to be replaced. The v…
Component: Instrument cluster/dash electrical system, with linked wiper activation. 2026 Mazda CX-90, VIN [XXX]. Vehicle available for inspection. Safety risk: While driving, warning icons flood on (amber, sometimes a large red brake/emergency-stop icon) for 2-5 seconds, with an unrequested single wiper pass. Speedometer, gear indicator, and MPG stay active. On this occurrence, the malfunction happened twice in immediate succession â as soon as the reset resolved, it recurred within about one second, which has not happened before. This occurred with 3 passengers in the vehicle during a road trip. The icon flood obscures whether a real emergency warning is present, at speeds ~45 mph. Also…
Car purchased 6/12, drove home and noticed steering wheel sticking when turning to left. Had not noticed during test drive (as all turns were Right handed). Called Dealer and took car in for spring adjustment/repair on 6/24/2026. Car was ok for short time and then steering again stuck when turning to left. Called Dealership again and they took vehicle from 7/17-7/23. Steering was fine for a few weeks and noticed steering sticking again dropped off Monday 9/14/2026. Awaiting call from Dealership as to status on 9/18/2026
My boyfriend and I rented the car from Hertz Car Rental in [XXX] on Labor Day weekend. Within moments of driving the car off the lot, the safety camera system stopped working and the lights came on saying they werenât working. The touch screen also started glitching and intermittently working but we didnât think too much about it. We started driving across the state to [XXX] and made it about 4 hours away from [XXX] when the car started making a noise like a marble in a tin can, lost power, started shaking, and could not make it up hills at a safe speed. The check engine light came on. We pulled over and popped the hood to find a lot of rat feces scattered all over the engine bay, some o…
The steering is sticky, especially on the highway trying to make small corrections
The vehicle had a âsticky steeringâ wheel. It was over correcting and not allowing for proper steering which was making it dangerous to drive. After speaking directly to Mazda, we took it to the Mazda dealership they asked for me to take it to and they evaluated it. The dealership confirmed the issue stemmed from a previous recall that had been repaired on the vehicle and they discussed it with Mazda. They requested Mazda pay for the cost of the failed recall however Mazda is pushing back and demanding I pay half the cost of repair (which I cannot afford) Mazda acknowledged it is a safety issue and I shouldnât be driving this vehicle and that the necessary repair is the same one as the…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

DESCRIPTION Some CX-70 and CX-90 PHEV vehicles may fail to start (enter READY mode) in cold weather, but the vehicle can often be started successfully on the next attempt. This may occur when leakage current between connector terminals causes the MAIN Relay to be falsely detected as ON. As a result, the Battery ECU may incorrectly determine the relay status, preventing READY mode activation and resulting in a no-start condition. One or more of the following DTCs may be stored: P0AB9, U0100, U0110, and U0115 and multiple warning lights may also turn on. This is caused by corrosion of the connec

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 26 complaints and several Early Warning Reporting (EWR) Field Reports alleging intermittent and brief increases in steering effort (described as âsticky steeringâ) during the drive cycle in model year (MY) 2024 CX-90 vehicles manufactured by Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) subject to Recall 24V2022. In each complaint, the vehicle had the recall remedy completed prior to the reported incident. Recall 24V022 addresses a sudden and
Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2024–2027, owners most often name: steering, engine, electrical system. 493 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
