I own a brand-new 2026 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid that is currently under the manufacturer's warranty. I am reporting an intermittent failure of the vehicle to respond normally to a selected driving direction. During the first incident on August 28, 2026, I had shifted the vehicle into Reverse. The vehicle indicated that Reverse was selected, but when I pressed the accelerator, the vehicle did not move or respond as expected. I attempted to change the selected driving direction, but the vehicle was not responding normally to the shift commands.l, again responding as if it were in neutral. I was unable to get the vehicle to operate normally until I turned the vehicle completely off, waited, and re…
Component Failed & Availability: Goodyear tire structure/tread separation and delamination across all four tires; technician states delamination, belt separation on all four tires, structural failure, tire separating from the internal belt structure (steel belts showing, chunks of tread missing); available for inspection. Safety Risk: Severe risk of sudden blowout, loss of vehicle control, and highway accident due to structural failure and internal belt separation. Dealer/Center Confirmation: Confirmed as a manufacturer defect by American Tire Company during a routine maintenance rotation on July 3, 2026 (fully documented by their shop). Inspections: Inspected and documented by American …
Fuel gauge permanently stuck on empty. Computer code = P0463 Occurred on Jan 30, 2026. Mechanic provided error code at that time. Unsafe driving conditions where distance-to-empty calculations are disabled, standard fuel level indicator showing empty (or stuck on full) risking an unexpected engine stall on public highways and roads. I have NO idea how much Fuel is in the tank nor how many miles are left on tank which could lead to unexpected and sudden stops in high traffic situations. Yes: code was confirmed by Advanced Auto, London Motorworks, and personal computer. Fuel sensor stuck on "FULL" in May 18 then again stuck on empty since May 21. Vehicle inspected by mechanic on Jan 30, 2026 …
My child is able to pull the pads off of the car seat. This is so unsafe and should not be allowed to happen. She is only [XXX] old. I am unable to resume the pass to the car seat. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Premature brake wear exacerbated by heavy stop and go traffic conditions.
The factory adhesive/anti-flutter sealant that bonds the outer hood skin to the inner structural frame has physically separated. There is a clear gap where the outer panel is no longer attached to the frame. As a result, the outer hood skin flexes and vibrates, especially at highway speeds. Impact / Safety Concern: The vibration and movement of the outer hood panel occurs directly in the driverâs forward line of sight. This creates a visible distraction while driving and can draw attention away from the road. Because the outer skin is no longer properly bonded to the structure, the condition is progressive and may worsen over time. Dealer Response: I documented the adhesive separation on t…
The drivers side inside door handle has quit working twice. The dealer has temporarily fixed it both times, but advised us to "just be more gentle with the handle". The cable is falling off of the door hinge inside the door, and the dealer claims they don't have a way to permanently fix it. They just put it back on its mount. We are afraid that the driver will not be able to escape the vehicle in an emergency. Both instances have been under 10,000 miles. The door handle works perfectly fine until it doesn't work at all. No warning given.
The automatic emergency braking in this vehicle is faulty. It misinterprets obstacles and uses the emergency braking inconsistently. I park in a parking garage and I have to slowly (less than 5 MPH) drive up any ramps because it apparently sees the ceiling of the garage as a obstacle and as a result, will randomly brake with no notice (which feels like getting rear ended). The dealer said it is working as designed and said I can turn this function off, but I have to turn it off every time I start the car. I also updated the sensitivity t the lowest setting, which didnât help. Iâm worried about this issue happening when Iâm in traffic or bad weather and what might occur, like an acciden…

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2023–2027, owners most often name: forward collision avoidance, service brakes, power train. 156 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
