On the Lincoln Aviator, the exterior mirrors "Auto-Fold" function has a software issue which can unexpectedly not open or close the mirrors. There is an online forum of Ford/Lincoln owners reporting the same problem. Sometimes only one mirror unfolds and other times only one mirror unfolds. With these mirrors not opening correctly, it can affect the Blind Spot Warning and other safety systems which are software driven. Ford-Lincoln is aware of this issue but has not opted to recall all affected vehicles with a simple software update to address this issue.

The dashboard spewed numerous systems disabled message. OTA messages reported: "The hill start assist system has detected a failure" "The Collision Warning system has detected either a system fault or an obstructed radar sensor." "Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power September 15, 2026 at 8:48 AM The Engine system has detected a fault." Ford's user manual indicates that the vehicle should be safely driven below 60MPH to the nearest service center and should not be driven until repaired…
The contact owns a 2021 Lincoln Aviator. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 60 MPH in the left lane, the rear end locked up, and the vehicle fishtailed before coming to a complete stop between the left lane and the shoulder of the roadway. The driver attempted to restart the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a rear power train failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Multiple loss of power, misfires, rough running and abnormal shifting. These events have put my family and I at risk as well as posing a significant risk to other drivers sharing the road due to the sudden loss of power while on the highway. Lincoln is dismissive and not taking this seriously. The problem continues and it is currently in the shop for the 4th time
Date of Incident:XXX (or your first observed date). Approximate Mileage: 26,955. Speed at Failure: 55 mph. Did a Crash or Injury Occur? No. Did a Fire Occur? No. "The vehicle is equipped with Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (camera sign recognition integrated with navigation map data). On [XXX] between Bath and [XXX], the posted speed limit drops from 65 mph to 55 mph. The vehicle's front camera correctly reads the 55 mph sign and slows the car down to 55 mph. However, approximately 1 mile later, the system overrides the visual camera reading and defaults back to outdated internal navigation mapping data. Without driver input, the vehicle automatically accelerates back up to 65 mphâ…

The contact owns a 2022 Lincoln Aviator. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced excessive fuel consumption and reduced power, hesitation and jerking while accelerating. Additionally, while turning left, the steering was difficult to turn. The contact stated that there was an abnormal burning odor while driving at high speeds. The contact associated the failure with the wheels, and the vehicle was taken to the Chevrolet dealer where it was purchased and an alignment was performed; however, the failure persisted. The contact was advised that the failure might be associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V455000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, a local …
This vehicle suffers from the low-pressure fuel pump defect tracked under NHTSA Campaign Number 25V455000 (Ford Recall 25S75). Since 2024, the vehicle has experienced a recurring Check Engine Light accompanied by engine hesitation and fuel delivery failures. Because the manufacturer has failed to provide a final recall remedy, the authorized Lincoln dealership repeatedly refused to fix the underlying issue. Instead, they continually cleared the error codes and instructed me to keep driving the vehicle. Operating the vehicle with this active safety defect caused severe fuel-management failures and misfires, forcing raw fuel into the exhaust system and completely melting the catalytic converte…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
Some 2024-2026 F-150, 2025 Explorer/Aviator, 2025-2026 Expedition/Navigator, or 2026 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U211B:43:48 stored in the body control module (BCM) when performing a Self-Test. This DTC sets due to an internal BCM timing issue during the self-test process. This specific code has no customer impact and does not cause any drivability concerns or warning messages. Clearing DTC U211B:43:48, reprogramming the BCM, or replacing the BCM is unlikely to prevent this DTC from setting. This DTC does not trigger a condition covered under warranty. Note:
This bulletin supersedes 26-2309. Reason For Update: update the Model section to remove Aviator 10R80, update the Parts list to add 3.3L to W520514-S440, and add L1MZ-7Z490-G valve body separator plate for Aviator. This may be due to the F clutch friction plates brinelling into the clutch and planetary container cylinder (7B177).
This article supersedes TSB 25-2373 to update a print error on publication. Some vehicles listed in the model statement above may exhibit an illuminated powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) C00A6 and/or C0631. This may be due to the front axle disconnect actuator/intermediate shaft.
Some 2025 Aviator/Explorer/Police Interceptor Utility vehicles may exhibit a "Steering Assist Fault Service Required" message and diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) C1110:56 and/or U3000:96 stored in the power steering control module (PSCM) after programming. This may be due to a calibration mismatch in the PSCM which has been resolved in the Ford database. If DTC C1110:56 is stored in a replacement PSCM after completing programmable module installation (PMI), start a new session using the latest software version of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool then run the "PSCM - Program

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
On July 22, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) granted a Defect Petition (DP22001) and opened a Preliminary Evaluation (PE22007) to investigate allegations of loss of motive power in model year (MY) 2021 Ford Bronco vehicles equipped with 2.7L EcoBoost engines. Complainants were reporting sudden engine failure while driving resulting in a loss of motive power, often without the ability to restart. During PE22007, the cause of engine failure and loss of motive power in the subject ve
NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-spe

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2020–2026, owners most often name: electrical system, unknown or other, back over prevention. 278 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
