What Lexus RX owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Lexus RX safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

We had a known oil line ruptured the oil cooler, there was a serviceable and sit out to the dealers to only repair if it was leaking and they extended it to 10 years $150,000 miles our vehicle had a rupture at 170,000 miles we were never told about the recall or we would have it done earlier we now have sparkles in our oil this is the part that it doesn't leak it ruptures I'm sure all out could place a fire and it certainly is can cause catastrophic damage to the engine 1500 to repair
Car dead stopped two times in the middle of roads. No warning. No signal. Just hard stopped.
The factory-installed front spindle grille and bumper assembly on this brand-new 2026 Lexus RX 350 suffered severe thermal material failure, resulting in extensive warping, bubbling, and physical melting under normal, predictable outdoor ambient daylight parking conditions. This thermal deformation poses an immediate safety hazard because the deformed exterior structure directly houses the vehicleâs critical front-facing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This includes the pre-collision safety radar sensors, pedestrian detection cameras, and proximity sensors located right behind the front Lexus emblem and grille assembly. The physical distortion of the plastic mounting housing can…
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Response: Door Actuators How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Response: Response: Doors canât be opened from outside as doors are permanently locked, plus doors must be manually manipulated from the inside to open versus pressing a button. I am concerned as this affects the child lock and can trap the occupants in the case of an accident. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Response: Response: Yes, confirmed by the dealer. This issue has been occurring multiple times since 2018 and is currently an issue. I have docum…
The transmission is jerking at times and it failed to accelerate at one point after coming to a complete stop. Notified Lexus and still working to fully resolve the issue but they just denied my request to reevaluate the issue.
Cruise control engaged and going 70mph. Brakes engaged and brake light came on in dash indication crash braking. Brakes slammed on and car decelerates to 5 mph before getting operating control back. No cars within 200 ft no road obstacles. Acceleration did not respond and unable to gain control and prevent danger problem.
Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), 12V Battery/Electrical System. My vehicle's 12V battery failed, with the dealership measuring voltage below 10V during the event. This caused multiple simultaneous module malfunctions (confirmed by the dealer as caused by the battery failure), including a complete inability to move the vehicle after jump-starting on three separate attempts â the engine ran, but the vehicle would not drive despite a functioning alternator. The vehicle's steering wheel also locked, preventing the car from being pushed to a safe location. Approximately 3 months after this event, a routine service visit revealed the rear brake pads had worn from 8mm (measured at time of purc…
While driving on the highway, the right rear fender trim piece detached from the vehicle. It could be seen flying off in the mirror. Itâs likely that the trim piece wasnât properly secured during the vehicleâs manufacturing process. It could have hurt someone driving behind me.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
A battery in a stored vehicle is subject to conditions that can reduce its performance and service life. These conditions include storage period, temperature, parasitic drain, and battery load. Because of these factors, battery inspection and maintenance are required to ensure proper operation and optimal battery life.
During the manufacturing process, tires are mounted on the vehicle as matched sets to help reduce conditions such as pulling or drifting. If the wheels are replaced or refinished before vehicle delivery, it is important that the tires remain on the vehicle in the same location and in the same direction of rotation.
2027 model year Lexus vehicles are equipped with driver side floor mat retainers to secure the floor mat in the correct position
Long-term or off-site storage requires special care to maintain vehicle condition. The following guidelines should be implemented to minimize vehicle component/part degradation due to extended vehicle storage conditions. Long-term storage can affect a vehicleâs systems and components. Any problems that are found should be corrected immediately.

Some 2023 â 2024 model year RX 350, RX 350h, RX 500h, and 2024 model year TX 350 and TX 500h vehicles may exhibit a rotational clicking noise from one or both front drive shaft assemblies when accelerating while making turns. This condition may occur without a grease leak present on the front drive shaft assemblies. An updated front drive shaft assembly is available to resolve this condition. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.

Some 2023 â 2025 model year RX 350h customers may experience a high engine RPM/noise when coasting or braking when going downhill with high vehicle SOC (State of Charge). This condition may occur when the vehicle is utilizing engine braking to prevent overcharge of the hybrid battery (>80%).
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-spe

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2027, owners most often name: unknown or other, engine, electrical system. 698 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
