What Lexus NX owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Lexus NX safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

While sitting stopped near a highway entrance, the panoramic sunroof of the vehicle spontaneously exploded with a loud popping sound. Glass pieces rained down the outside of the car (the interior cover was closed). After exploding, the panoramic sunroof had deep large cracks throughout the glass remaining in the middle. The edges of the glass were shattered and the pieces of glass were falling from the edges. The vehicle is currently being inspected by Lexus. There were no warning signs. Although the interior cover to the sunroof was closed at the time, my passenger and I could have been at risk for shattered glass pieces raining down inside the vehicle. The problem has not been reproduc…
2022 Lexus NX 350h, VIN JTJGKCEZ6N2002622. On multiple documented occasions since 2022, while backing up, the vehicle's rear camera/backup system has detected an object that was not present and automatically applied the emergency brake, causing a sudden hard stop with no actual obstruction â at least 7 times per dealer records (repair orders dated 8/11/2022 and 7/19/2023, Lexus of Riverside), including once with my child in the vehicle. The dealer was unable to duplicate or repair the condition on either visit. Separately, the vehicle has twice become inoperative and trapped me inside â once in April 2025 near 100°F outside temperature, and once in November 2025 for over an hour, requir…
The dashboard screen went completely black. All gauges and meters are digital, so there was no information supplied (no gas gauge, no speedometer, etc). The heads up display that normally displays speed also was no longer functioning. When I brought the car to the dealer, the intake person said âanother one!â This implies to me that this is a recurring issue.
The driver's side door on my 2024 Lexus NX 350h has completely seized and will not open from either the inside or the outside. The vehicle is equipped with the electronic e-Latch system. Even the emergency mechanical override fails to release the latch. This is a severe, life-threatening safety hazard. In the event of an accident, fire or emergency, I would be trapped inside the vehicle with no way to exit from the driver's seat. An authorized dealership (Lexus of Tustin) has kept the vehicle for over two weeks without resolving the issue. They failed to diagnose the electronic latch failure properly and instead presented a retail estimate of $781.88 just to "attempt" a repair, while officia…
The contact owns a 2023 Lexus NX 350. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds or while idling, the transmission independedntly shifted into park (P), and the vehicle failed to move forward. The contact applied excessive pressure to the accelerator pedal while depressing the parking brake to unlock the transmission, allowing the vehicle to shift into drive (D). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where a software update was performed; however, the failure persisted. The failure mileage was approximately 39,500.
While driving and approaching a red light, my entire breaking system failed. No warning lights appeared, no warning of breaks going bad. Pedal went straight to the floor. Eventually pulled over to the side and had vehicle towed to Lexus. They found the Master brake cylinder to be bad. My vehicle only has 50k miles on it. Only a few more miles and I would have been on the highway going 60 with children in the vehicle! Why would a system fail at 50k miles!!!
The contact owns a 2024 Lexus NX 450H. The contact stated that while driving 5 MPH, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated. The contact stated that the vehicle was uncontrollable. The brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended, and the vehicle crashed through the garage at the residence. The vehicle then crashed through the garage door, drove across the backyard, and into the neighbor's residence before stopping. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while the contact was attempting to park the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. A Police report was filed. The contact sustained minor bruises. Medical attention was sought. The failure m…
DOOR LOCK SYSTEM FAILURE - LOCKOUT AND ENTRAPMENT HAZARD. In late xxx, during a single sub-zero weather event in the [XXX] area, the door lock system on this 2024 Lexus NX 450h+ failed on two separate occasions within the same week. On both occasions the vehicle could not be unlocked or entered by any means available to the owner (smart key fob, digital key, remote unlock) and we were locked out in sub-zero temperatures. Lexus Roadside Assistance was dispatched both times and each time took more than three hours to reach us, for more than six hours total stranded outdoors in sub-zero conditions. When the Roadside Assistance technician gained access, he confirmed the defect also prevents the …

A battery in a stored vehicle is subject to conditions that can reduce its performance and service life. These conditions include storage period, temperature, parasitic drain, and battery load. Because of these factors, battery inspection and maintenance are required to ensure proper operation and optimal battery life.
During the manufacturing process, tires are mounted on the vehicle as matched sets to help reduce conditions such as pulling or drifting. If the wheels are replaced or refinished before vehicle delivery, it is important that the tires remain on the vehicle in the same location and in the same direction of rotation.

Long-term or off-site storage requires special care to maintain vehicle condition. The following guidelines should be implemented to minimize vehicle component/part degradation due to extended vehicle storage conditions. Long-term storage can affect a vehicleâs systems and components. Any problems that are found should be corrected immediately.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-spe

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2014–2027, owners most often name: unknown or other, electrical system, fuel/propulsion system. 258 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
