My car is exhibiting signs of a failed brake actuator. Since I drive well below the average number of miles a year Lexus is refusing to cover any repairs of this brake actuator issue that is a know problem as described in your bulletin L-SB-0009-23. Lexus offered 100% coverage on this for up to 10 years or 150,000 miles, again since I drive so few miles I was 1year 9 months outside the coverage window. They refuse to assist with any of the repaid cost estimated at $6,600. They have essentially left me with an unsafe automobile on a technicality.
At 55,310 miles the car stalled without warning while driving at low speed. The car was towed to a Lexus dealership and it was reported by the dealer after inspection that the engine had seized. The vehicle is available for inspection. The motor failed while driving the vehicle. The V35A-FTS engine has numerous reports of main bearing failure and is subject to a recall for other models that have this engine, however, the Lexus LS500 model is not included in the recall despite having the same/similar catastrophic engine failure with low miles. Lexus corporate has been notified and has contacted the dealer directly regarding the failure. There were no warning lights, no engine sounds, an…
My vehicle has the V6 twin turbo engine thatâs been recalled on other years and models and was diagnosed with an internal engine failure. The mechanic at the dealership couldnât figure out the problem so an expert TAS Lexus specialist was called in and couldnât figure out the problem either. Theyâve had the car for 3 months and since they donât know how to fix it they are telling me to just replace the engine with a used engine at a cost of $25,000. The vehicle is just out of warranty and Toyota/Lexus is refusing to cover any of the costs. The vehicle was serviced regularly so this shouldnât have happened. This is a common problem with this model of engine. I believe itâs a …
Both headlight assemblies on a 2021 Lexus LS 500 show external lens delamination, along with visible condensation inside the sealed units. The vehicle has been garage kept, has not been involved in any accidents, and has no external damage to the headlight assemblies. The outer lens surfaces are deteriorating, and moisture is present inside components that are designed to be sealed. The condition has progressively worsened over time. These issues reduce headlight clarity and light output, negatively affecting forward visibility during nighttime driving and creating a potential safety hazard.
The contact owns a 2018 Lexus LS 500. The contact stated that while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle coasted and was steered over to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the residence, where the oil was drained and the cap and filter were removed. The contact stated that there were metal shavings inside the oil. The vehicle was towed to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there was no oil in the engine and that the oil filter was not the correct oil filter. Additionally, the contact was informed that the engine had seized, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed…
My 2025 Lexus 700H F-Sport Bounces or wobbles when in Econ or Comfort. The suspension feels like bad shocks or springs. The Bouncing is so bad on highway turns that the driver must slow down over bumps to prevent the SUV from Bouncing off the road. At night one can easly see the wobble or bouncing of the SUV lights. I have made 3 trips to my Lexus Dealer, Jim Hudson Lexus in Columbia, SC. The last visit my truck was evaluated by a Field Technical Specialist, Mr Matt Hennessey. Matt stated this is the way they come to the Dealership. His solution was for me not to drive in Econ or Comfort or sell the vehicle.
My ABS Brake System warning lights all came on a few days ago, giving me error codes c1253 and c1256. These codes pertain to a manufacturers defect with Lexus, wherein Lexus generated a customer convenience program that said any LS460 that is less than 10 yrs old OR less than 150k miles can be brought to any dealer and have this brake system replaced at Lexus expense. Please see the attached Lexus notice to dealers. My car is 13 yrs old BUT has only 108k miles; so I asked Lexus Corporate to approve my repair and they denied it due to age. This is a SAFETY issue due to a manufacturers defect from Lexus; therefore I should not have to pay for something simply because I have a low mileage car. …

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2026, owners most often name: service brakes, unknown or other, electrical system. 68 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
