What Land Rover Discovery owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Land Rover Discovery safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

This is the third time this has happened. My 2019 Range Rover Evoque power steering malfunctions and the steering wheel physically will not turn the front wheels. I can only drive forward or reverse. Each time I take it to the Land Rover dealership, and they are unsure how to resolve my issue. Here is a list of warnings that appear on my dashboard: - Power steering assistance reduced - Parking brake fault - 2 wheel drive only traction reduced - Stability control not available. Drive with care. - HDC not available system fault - ATPC not available I have less than 70,000 miles on my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport. The contact stated that the electrical fault message was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V248000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and it was determined that the software update needed to be performed. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 70,000.
I own a 2018 Discovery Sport. For the past month once every week the vehicle when put in park mode. Will turn completely off, will shut off automatically sometimes with the shift gear button closing back up. I just experienced this 3 days ago. I was stopped at a red light, I noticed my car screen turn off and the shift gear button control go back. So the vehicle turned off completely on me while I'm in the middle of the street driving. it's first time it happened without being in the park mode. This is a safety matter the car behind me could have crashed into me because the vehicle turns off without any warning signals in the dashboard. I had to act fast put my emergency lights and restart t…
I purchased this vehicle continue suspension fault and check engine light continues to come on daily and through out the day in driving. Fuel cap I have spent over $3,000, to fix a purchased vehicle, XXX from [XXX] of Land Rover. I believe they sold me a lemon. To date of XXX, amber lights on dash boards since purchase. I changed the suspension, control arm, brakes, oil change, rotors, tires, purge valve still no drive. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport, turbocharger failed at approximately 98,000 miles. Vehicle required turbocharger replacement costing over $5,000. VIN is excluded from the existing turbocharger class-action settlement because the vehicle is identified as having a BorgWarner single-scroll turbocharger. I believe the turbocharger failure may represent a premature manufacturing/design defect similar to the turbocharger failures alleged in the existing Flynn-Murphy litigation.
Shortly after I purchased this used 2018 Land Rover Discovery with approximately 30,700 miles, the vehicle began intermittently lurching, surging and shaking during normal driving. These symptoms began before the check-engine light illuminated. Two days after the check-engine light first appeared, the lurching and surging became noticeably worse. Approximately two minutes before the first engine shutdown, numerous warnings appeared in rapid succession, including âStability Control Not Available,â âForward Alert Not Available,â âAEB Not Available,â and âATPC Not Available.â I stopped the vehicle briefly. Approximately one minute after resuming driving, the engine unexpectedly…
COMPONENT: Driver-front flexible brake hose (service brake hydraulic system), and the brake fluid level warning system. WHAT HAPPENED: While my daughter was driving at approximately 25 mph and braking normally, the brake pedal sank progressively to the floor over about five seconds. The vehicle continued moving and did not slow as commanded during that time. Braking was obtained only after the pedal had reached the floor. She pumped the pedal several times and was able to bring the vehicle to a stop and park it. Brake fluid was leaking underneath. WARNING PRIOR TO FAILURE: None. No brake warning lamp or message of any kind appeared before or during the failure. The driver had no warning. S…
The contact owns a 2021 Land Rover Discovery. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights were illuminated, and the vehicle stalled in the middle of the roadway. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V248000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer retrieved several fault codes associated with the power supply failure and DC Converter failure. The vehicle was not repaired because there was no repair available for the DC-DC converter failure. The contact stated that the dealer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made awa…

A low-speed âclonkâ type noise from the rear driveline, audible during low speed throttle inputs, often coupled with up/down gear changes. The noise is audible during normal road driving conditions.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2014–2026, owners most often name: electrical system, engine, power train. 366 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
