What Land Rover Discovery Sport owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Land Rover Discovery Sport safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

This is the third time this has happened. My 2019 Range Rover Evoque power steering malfunctions and the steering wheel physically will not turn the front wheels. I can only drive forward or reverse. Each time I take it to the Land Rover dealership, and they are unsure how to resolve my issue. Here is a list of warnings that appear on my dashboard: - Power steering assistance reduced - Parking brake fault - 2 wheel drive only traction reduced - Stability control not available. Drive with care. - HDC not available system fault - ATPC not available I have less than 70,000 miles on my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport. The contact stated that the electrical fault message was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V248000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and it was determined that the software update needed to be performed. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 70,000.
I own a 2018 Discovery Sport. For the past month once every week the vehicle when put in park mode. Will turn completely off, will shut off automatically sometimes with the shift gear button closing back up. I just experienced this 3 days ago. I was stopped at a red light, I noticed my car screen turn off and the shift gear button control go back. So the vehicle turned off completely on me while I'm in the middle of the street driving. it's first time it happened without being in the park mode. This is a safety matter the car behind me could have crashed into me because the vehicle turns off without any warning signals in the dashboard. I had to act fast put my emergency lights and restart t…
2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport, turbocharger failed at approximately 98,000 miles. Vehicle required turbocharger replacement costing over $5,000. VIN is excluded from the existing turbocharger class-action settlement because the vehicle is identified as having a BorgWarner single-scroll turbocharger. I believe the turbocharger failure may represent a premature manufacturing/design defect similar to the turbocharger failures alleged in the existing Flynn-Murphy litigation.
COMPONENT: Driver-front flexible brake hose (service brake hydraulic system), and the brake fluid level warning system. WHAT HAPPENED: While my daughter was driving at approximately 25 mph and braking normally, the brake pedal sank progressively to the floor over about five seconds. The vehicle continued moving and did not slow as commanded during that time. Braking was obtained only after the pedal had reached the floor. She pumped the pedal several times and was able to bring the vehicle to a stop and park it. Brake fluid was leaking underneath. WARNING PRIOR TO FAILURE: None. No brake warning lamp or message of any kind appeared before or during the failure. The driver had no warning. S…
The contact owns a 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle, and the vehicle became difficult to maneuver. The contact pulled over to the shoulder lane to avoid a crash. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a cracked chassis component that was used to secure the lower control arm for the front passengerâs side wheel. The contact was informed that the lower control arm component needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approx…
I continue to have an intermittent issue with my car throwing itself into park. It happened once in 2024, 2025 but now three times in the last two weeks. This is becoming incredibly unsafe as while driving the car puts itself into park while in motion. The insurance company will not repair due to it being intermittent. I do not know what to do but I need this documented for safety reasons
I am reporting what I believe is a safetyârelated defect involving the automatic transmission in my 2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport, VIN [XXX]. Approximately five months after the factory warranty expired, at around 44,000 miles, the transmission began slipping unexpectedly, and the vehicle would not accelerate above roughly 25â35 mph. This occurred while driving, creating an unsafe condition. I needed to make a left turn across traffic, but because the vehicle would not accelerate properly and could not safely match the speed of other vehicles, I judged it too dangerous to change lanes and complete the left turn. Instead, I had to make a right turn, pull into a driveway, turn around, a…

Arduous customer drive cycles have been found to accelerate the degradation of engine oil, leading to generation of engine oil sludge deposits in high pressure engine oil galleries of the engine and inside the Continuous Variable Valve Lift (CVVL) unit.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2014–2026, owners most often name: engine, power train, electrical system. 178 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
