Dear Kia Customer Care, I am writing to formally report a serious and recurring safety issue with my Kia vehicle. I have repeatedly experienced a "Power Limited" error while driving, often accompanied by a turtle icon and a "Check Electric Vehicle System" warning. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has suddenly lost power and stalled in the middle of the road. This is extremely dangerous and has put me and other drivers at risk. A vehicle should never lose propulsion unexpectedly, especially in active traffic conditions. I request an immediate investigation into this issue, along with a clear explanation of the cause and a permanent fix. Please treat this matter with urgency, as it direct…
I was driving my car on the highway, then I got the message çheck your electrical system'for around a minute. Then there was a rumble or bang as if I hit something with the back, but the road was clean. Then the car started slowing down and I drove to the side. I got out of the car and saw white smoke coming from under the car in the back. I started opening the hood and trunk in the back to find out, where the smoke came from. It was nothing to see. Because it was an electrical car I assumed, that it could start burning, when it smells like smoke and looks like smoke. So I called 911 and told them, that I think my electric car is starting to burn, where I am and that nobody was injured. I t…
The ICCU on the car died in the middle of the street, car would not shift out of park. Car completely died after a few minutes.
Component that failed: Vehicle headlight/running light has water penetration and the running lights do not stay on. Additionally there is yellowing of the LED running lights, which is a known defect in the Kia EV6. Safety issue: Running lights reduced night time illumination and made it more difficult to see road. Running lights yellowing are a sign of premature failure. Dealer inspection: Dealer identified problem during a state inspection (light turned off after a few seconds). Vehicle headlights have three issues: 1. Yellowing of LED running lights, 2. Failure of seals allowing water into the headlight unit, 3. Malfunction of the running lights (turns on briefly and then goes out) …

I got into my car in a hurry i put my car in drive as i was closing my driver's door and took off and because the door wasn't fully closed the parking brake engaged itself but the power over comes the parking brake, when i let off the throttle the rear wheels locked up causing the car to slide out of control. I pushed on the throttle again to unlock the rear wheels causing me to swerve in the other lane and almost crash into an incoming car. I tried to turn off the brake and could not without stopping the car so i had to skid out of control again stopping to turn it off.
The ICCU, or integrated charge control unit, continually fails on this car. When it fails, the 12V battery rapidly drains and the car goes into turtle mode (25mph max) until the 12 battery drains completely. This has happened 4 times on this car, twice since I purchased it 'certified pre-owned" from a Kia dealership in February 2026. Luckily for me the two times it has failed on me, I was in town and close to home. I purchased this car to use for road trips, and out in remote areas of wilderness that do not have cell reception. It is my opinion that the lack of a permanent fix from Kia is a safety issue, as this problem can strand a driver like myself in the middle of nowhere without cell …
My 2024 Kia EV6 is experiencing a total failure of the 12V charging system and requires manual jumpstarts to operate. The official ICCU safety recall (SC327) was previously performed, which is why the NHTSA database shows 0 unrepaired recalls for this VIN. However, the manufacturer's remedy has completely failed. Per NHTSA safety guidelines, this vehicle is currently subject to a sudden loss of motive power while driving and is unsafe to operate on public roads.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2022–2026, owners most often name: electrical system, fuel/propulsion system, power train. 543 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
