The ABS Unit is malfunctioning causing the motorcyle to show K-ACT ABS ERROR. Additionally, both the ABS and KTRC lights illuminated. The motorcycle is available for inspection upon request. The rear brake pedal feel changed dramatically requiring significant additional pressure to be applied to the pedal. The system should have acutated the front brake during this process but it did not. Additional application pressure on the front brake lever was required. When the front brake was applied independent of the rear brake, there was no rear brake actuation. A malfunctioning antilock braking system is the safety issue! The problem has been reproduced by an independent service center. T…
The contact owns a 2021 Kawasaki ZG1400E Concours. The contact stated while riding approximately 35-40 MPH, the motorcycle lost electrical power and stalled. The warning message "Key Fob Not Found" was illuminated. The contact stated that upon veering into the left turn lane to make a turn, the vehicle restarted inadvertently. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer who informed the contact that they could not replicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure had been occurring intermittently. The contact stated that the traction control, ABS, fuel injector warning lights were illuminated; and the warning message "Do not Operate the vehicle" was displayed intermittently. Addition…
The electric wind shield broke at the mechanism while doing highways speeds allowing it to fold back and forward and hit my helmet almost causing a crash and . All parts on the windshield are stock. It also would not retract to fix my visibility. Part #55036-0003 for the assembly that broke.
Back Brake pedal locks up at times locking the rear brakes and seems to lock the left front brake. Have had back brakes replaced and front pads replaced. The issue happened within one week of purchasing the bike used from a Florida Dealership. When the brakes lock up, you are almost thrown from the bike. Front left pads wear to the metal while the right side is barely worn. Sometimes, the brake pedal just goes all the way down and I have nothing. This would probably KILL a rookie rider. I also ride a 2008 Honda Goldwing with 96,000 miles. I bought it new. Both have LINKED brakes. I have never had an issue with my Honda. This is definitely a SERIOUS issue on the Kawasaki. It has apx. 32,000 m…
SEAT BECOMES UNLATCHED DURING NORMAL OPERATION. SEAT LATCH BECOMES UNLATCHED WHILE RIDING EVEN AFTER SECURING THE SEAT AND VERIFYING IT IS LOCKED IN PLACE. I REPEATEDLY FIND THE SEAT UNLATCHED AND NOW CHECK BEFORE EVERY RIDE. UNLATCHED SEAT COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF CONTROL.
JUST BOUGHT THIS NEW MOTORCYCLE AND BRINGING IT HOME FROM THE SHOP (20 MILES) I NOTICED THE SEAT WAS NOT LATCHED. THINKING IT WAS JUST PUT INTO SERVICE, I THOUGHT IT WAS AN OVERSIGHT. NOT THE CASE! EACH DAY/RIDE IN THE FIRST THREE (3) DAYS OF OWNERSHIP, THE SEAT UNLATCHES ITSELF EVERY RIDE! A QUICK ONLINE SEARCH SHOWED ME THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR YEARS. I AM HERE TO SAY, IT IS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED AND NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED!!!
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO USE THE REAR BRAKES ONLY WHILE NEGOTIATING A TURN, THE BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS+TRACTION CONTROL+LINKED BRAKES) APPLIED FAR TOO MUCH BRAKE POWER TO THE FRONT WHEEL VIA THE LINKED BRAKING SYSTEM. THIS NEARLY CAUSED ME TO COLLIDE WITH ANOTHER CAR AND A BUS. THE LINKED BRAKING SYSTEM APPLIES FAR TOO MUCH PRESSURE TO THE FRONT BRAKES, AND THE ABS SYSTEM APPLIES ITSELF IN A MANNER THAT INTERFERES WITH SMOOTH OPERATION IN THE CORNER. WERE IT NOT FOR EXTENSIVE FORMAL TRAINING AND DECADES OF EXPERIENCE AS A RIDER, I WOULD HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO CONTROL THE MOTORCYCLE, LIKELY RESULTING IN A COLLISION. THIS SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REWORKED IMMEDIATELY, OR A FIX PROVIDED TO TURN THE SYSTEM OFF. …
ABS/LINKED BRAKES HAVE A CONDITION WHERE THE REAR BRAKE LEVER HAS INCONSISTENT TRAVEL AND OCCASIONALLY PULSATES MAKING EFFECTIVE BRAKING IMPOSSIBLE. THE FRONT BRAKES WILL ALSO ACTIVATE INCONSISTENTLY WITH EXCESSIVE PRESSURE WHEN THE REAR BRAKES ARE APPLIED CAUSING STEERING VIBRATION. KAWASAKI HAS ADMITTED THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL EARLY 2015- CONCOURS BIKES AND EVEN ATTEMPTED TO RETROFIT A 2016 ABS MODULE TO MY 2014 TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. KAWASAKI WAS UNABLE TO RETROFIT THE ABS MODULE AND REPLACED THE WHOLE SYSTEM BUT THE PROBLEM REAPPEARED. HTTPS://WWW.MECHANICADVISOR.COM/PROBLEMS/KAWASAKI/2012/CONCOURS-14

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2011–2021, owners most often name: service brakes, electrical system, seats. 18 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
