I am concerned that a potentially serious engine/timing-system defect may exist in my 2019 Jaguar XE R-Sport 2.0L Ingenium gasoline engine (64,820 miles). Jaguar Service Action H299 addresses VCT solenoids on certain 2018â2020 XE models, and my VIN falls within the identified VIN range. In August 2026, my vehicle developed a VCT/camshaft-related fault. An independent Jaguar/Land Rover repair facility replaced the camshaft adjuster solenoids, but the problem persisted as indicated by the engine service light. The vehicle then began running noticeably rougher and developed a rattling noise every time the engine is started. The repair facility recommended approximately upper timing-chain-rela…
Subject: 2019 Jaguar XE â Recall H535 Did Not Restore Rear Camera Function I own a 2019 Jaguar XE that experienced rear-view camera failure consistent with Recall H535 regarding rear camera wiring issues. My rear camera stopped functioning before recall service, which is why I brought the vehicle to the dealer. After performing the recall repair, the dealer advised that the camera itself may have failed and may require replacement outside the recall remedy. My concern is that the recall-related condition either caused or contributed to the camera failure, and the recall remedy has not restored operation of the rear visibility system. Purchased 2020 jaguar XE with under 13,000 miles on it 2 years ago now has 23,000 miles on it. Went to leave for work and my car wouldnât start stating the transmission wasnât in park and other messages and tried jumping it wouldnât work. Wouldnt switch gears to put car in neutral and neutral release under hood wouldnât fully work. because parking break was stuck on. Took 3 tow trucks to get it out. Finally got it to dealership where they stated itâs a Corroded battery line could not state how it got damaged besides âsaltâ & âmoistureâ has gotten inside and these things just happen. This does not sound like normal wear and tear for a 6 year old car with that low of miles. E…
The contact owns a 2017 Jaguar XE. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the passengerâs side air bag had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and transferred the contact to the warranty headquarters located in Florida. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Jaguar XE. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V017000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
While driving on the highway at normal operating speeds, the vehicle suddenly lost power, and the accelerator pedal became completely unresponsive, preventing me from maintaining speed or safely exiting the roadway. This created a severe safety hazard, as I was unable to maneuver or pull off to avoid fast-moving traffic. Immediately after, I attempted to shift the vehicle into âPark,â but received an on-screen message stating that the transmission was not in Park, even though the shifter was physically in the Park position. The gear selector became disabled, and I was unable to shift into any gear. Despite applying the emergency parking brake, the vehicle continued to roll on its own, pr…
Rear camera stopped working. When backing up there is a safety hazard of not being able to see low objects behind car. I took it to an independent service center060
The contact owns a 2017 Jaguar XE. The contactâs wife stated that while driving at approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated. The brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond, and no warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle accelerated to an unknown speed, causing the contactâs wife to veer off the roadway and collide with a tree, where it came to a stop. The contactâs wife reported that the engine compartment caught fire upon impact and that the air bags deployed. As a result of the crash, the contactâs wife sustained a spinal injury and bruising. The fire was extinguished by the local fire department. A Police and fire report was filed, an…

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2016–2024, owners most often name: electrical system, engine, back over prevention. 37 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
