1ST EVENT. 1/3017. DRIVING S. I75, APPROX. 65MPH, FROM OCALA TO TAMPA LOST CRUISE CONTROL,THESE MESSAGES APPEARED ON INSTRUMENT DISPLAY:ABS VISIT WORKSHOP, ESP VISIT WORKSHOP AND A TIRE IMAGE VISIT WORKSHOP. TOOK NEXT EXIT AND REFERRED TO THE SPRINTER MANUAL. VERY CONCERNED AFTER READING WHAT WAS DEACTIVATED. CALLED M-B OF WESLEY CHAPEL AND WAS TOLD I COULD DRIVE TO THEIR SERVICE CENTER ABOUT 50 MILES AWAY, BUT TO DRIVE MODERATE SPEED, NO HARD BRAKING OR SHARP TURNS! NO NEED TO TOW. DIAGNOSED FAULTY LEFT REAR WHEEL SENSOR AND REPLACED. SERVICE MANAGE STATED WHEN WHEEL SENSORS USUALLY FAIL AROUND 30,000 MILES. MY MILAGE WAS 30264! 2ND EVENT. TWO DAYS LATER 2/1/17 SAME ERROR MESSAGES W…
NOW TWO MONTHS AFTER THE LAST IDENTICAL INCIDENT, ANOTHER WHEEL SPEED CONTROL SENSOR FAILED (REAR AXLE) THAT AFFECTED NOT ONLY CRUISE-CONTROL BUT ALSO DISABLED ABS BRAKES AND STABILITY CONTROL FUNCTIONS DURING A LONG AND RAINY TRIP TO PA. (SEE EARLIER COMPLAINT #11340388) OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS, THIS IS NOW THE FIFTH WHEEL SPEED SENSOR NEEDING REPLACEMENT AND THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT REFLECTS THE SECOND TIME FOR THE VERY SAME UNIT THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED YEARS AGO ON THE SAME SIDE. M/BENZ HAS DISALLOWED ANY WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THESE LAST FEW FAILURES DESPITE WHAT MY FAMILY (AND OTHERS) BELIEVE IS A DRASTIC SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD RESULT IN NOT ONLY AN ACCIDENT, BUT POTENTIAL LOSS…
THIS REGARDS THE MERCEDES BENZ SPRINTER 3500 MODEL CHASSIS, NOT THE WINNEBAGO COACH. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS HAVE FAILED AND THIS TIME DROVE THE CRUISE CONTROL PAST SET LIMIT OF 60 MPH TO > 70 MPH WITHOUT ANY DRIVER INTERACTION. THESE SENSOR FAILURES DEMONSTRATE A CLEAR SAFETY DEFECT AND LIKELY MB PRODUCING DEFECTIVE PARTS. ALL SUCH SPRINTER VEHICLES WITH THESE SENSORS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED TO HAVE THEIR WHEEL SPEED SENSORS REPLACED. THIS NOT A MAINTENANCE ISSUE BUT HAS NOW BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY FROM THIS LAST INCIDENT WE EXPERIENCED AS NOTED ABOVE. WE NOTED MULTIPLE CONSUMER BLOG ENTRIES OF SIMILAR INCIDENCES WITH THIS VERY CHASSIS AND PARTICULARL…
ALL FOUR ABS WHEEL SENSORS FAILED WITHIN SEVEN DAYS, THE COST TO REPLACE OVER $1100.00. THE TRANSMISSION WENT INTO LIMP MODE HAD TO DRIVE 15 MPH FOR OVER AN HOUR TO GET HOME. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED FROM WINDFALL, IN TO INDIANAPOLIS, IN
WE HAVE NOW HAD TO REPLACE 6 WHEEL SENSORS ON THIS MERCEDES SPRINTER-BASED RV THAT WAS PURCHASED IN JUNE 2015 (SO IT IS NOT QUITE 4 YEARS OLD) AND HAS ONLY ~40600 MILES ON IT. IT IS APPARENTLY A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH SPRINTER BASED RVS, BUT NOT WITH SPRINTER VANS. WHENEVER A SENSOR FAILS (WHICH VIRTUALLY ALWAYS OCCURS WHEN WE ARE ON A LONG DISTANCE TRIP WITH THE RV), ANTILOCK BRAKES, STABILITY CONTROL, AND CRUISE CONTROL ARE LOST, SO THIS PRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN. DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU ARE, A MERCEDES DEALERSHIP MAY OR MAY NOT BE NEARBY. FURTHERMORE, NOT ALL MERCEDES DEALERSHIPS SERVICE SPRINTER BASED VEHICLES. THERE IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FLAW WITH THESE SENSORS, AS MANY OTHE…
CPSC: 2015 ITASCA NAVION: CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH CARBON MONOXIDE. *SS THE CONSUMER STATED HE PURCHASED A MOTOR HOME. AT THE TIME., THE GENERATOR WAS INOPERABLE. WHEN HE PICKED THE MOTOR HOME UP, HE NOTICED THE EXHAUST PIPE WAS LOCATED BEHIND THE BACK WHEEL AND UNDER AN AWNING. THE CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED ABOUT CARBON MONOXIDE WHEN USING THE GENERATOR. *JB
THE EXHAUST SYSTEM FELL OFF OUR NEW MOTOR HOME WHILE TRAVELING 55MPH ON A RELATIVELY SMOOTH INTERSTATE HIGHWAY IN GOOD WEATHER. WE HEARD A LOUD THUMP AND FELT THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE LURCH UPWARD AND PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY. THE ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM (ABOUT 14 FEET OF STEEL) WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SINGLE LANE OF TRAFFIC ABOUT 200 YARDS BACK. I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE DEBRIS BEFORE ANY FOLLOWING DRIVERS STRUCK THE DEBRIS. THE INNER TIRE OF THE RIGHT DUALS WAS DAMAGED WITH A DEEP GOUGE, DOWN TO THE LEVEL OF THE STEEL CORDS, POSING THREAT OF A BLOWOUT. THE EXHAUST SYSTEM CRUSHED INTO THE ONAN PROPANE GENERATOR THAT SITS BEHIND THE RIGHT DUALS. FORTUNATELY, THE PROPANE SYSTEM REMAINED INT…

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2012–2025, owners most often name: vehicle speed control, electronic stability control (esc), electrical system. 8 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
