Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

On XXX, at about 8:45 AM MT, my 2018 INFINITI QX30 (77,152 miles) suddenly lost all mobility on XXX in the [XXX]/[XXX] area during rush hour. The vehicle had started normally and driven about 9 miles with no warning lights or starting problems. Because traffic was stop-and-go, my recollection is that I had manually disabled Auto Stop/Start. I stopped normally with traffic. When traffic moved again, I released the brake and attempted to accelerate, but the vehicle would not move. Multiple warning lights appeared and I could not restore it to a drivable condition. The vehicle remained disabled in an active highway lane for about 40â45 minutes. It could not move under its own power, and a ro…

The contact owns a 2017 Infiniti QX30. The contact stated that an unknown warning light was illuminated. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked abnormally. The vehicle steadily moved forward even after releasing the steering wheel and the accelerator pedal. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Infiniti QX30. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal clicking sound coming from the steering wheel, with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed clockspring. The contact was informed that the clockspring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the vehicle was repaired under an undisclosed recall in 2018. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under the previous recall. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
The rear subframe on my 2018 Infiniti QX30 experienced a structural failure at approximately 39,000 miles. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Infiniti dealer, who confirmed failure of the rear subframe, a critical structural and safety component. This failure created a serious safety hazard, including risk of loss of vehicle control. The vehicle was deemed unsafe to operate. The failure occurred under normal driving conditions and without warning. A rear subframe is not a wear item and should not fail at this mileage. This appears to be a potential manufacturing or design defect affecting vehicle safety.
I opened my sunroof cover and the back of my headliner dropped. The back window is already small and the headliner hangs in front of it obstructing the view. It seems like everyone has this same issue or defect which is pretty pricey to repair.
I am submitting this complaint regarding a safety and quality concern with my 2017 Infiniti QX30. The interior headliner in the rear section of my vehicle has begun sagging significantly, which obstructs rear visibility and creates a potential driving hazard. Based on my research and discussions with service professionals, this issue appears to be a manufacturer defect rather than normal wear. I have also learned that the Mercedes-Benz GLA 250âwhich shares a platform with the Infiniti QX30âexperienced the same headliner sagging issue. In fact, this problem was considered a safety concern due to restricted rear visibility. Despite this being a known issue on a mechanically and structura…

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 20

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2017–2019, owners most often name: electrical system, air bags, steering. 60 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
