Complete and sudden clutch failure and unable to shift into any gear. No clutch slippage or change in engage point/clutch burning smell. Was traveling at relatively low speed (35mph). Dealership tried to get me to tell my insurance company it was due to water damage and then quoted me almost $7,000 to replace the clutch.
I bought the car about 2 days ago and while driving the car caught fire and I had to call my local fire department. I never hit anyone or did anything it just caught fire randomly.
Throw out bearing leak, resulting in excessive loss of brake fluid and potential for reduced braking ability. Low brake fluid warning light illuminated and was reported to Suburban Hyundai of Troy around 6,000 miles and again around 10,000 miles. Dealer confirmed leak was occurring at throw out bearing, and impacted clutch friction material as well, which could result in a potential inability to accelerate depending on fluid accumulation on clutch. Upon confirmation, dealer replaced throw out bearing, clutch, and perfomed brake fluid flush.
over the course of a year I get a "Transmission system error! Check Transmission oil Immediately" message. happened on April 15 2025, again June 20 2025 but car went into limp mode and did not go into 2nd and 4th gear. June 30 2025 went to dealership where ecu was reflashed. The problem went away but then came back on July 26 2025. Dealership could not see me during 2 weeks and by then message error cleared on its own. July 1 2026 message came on again and check engine light came on. Car again did not go into 2 and 4th gear and ended up stop moving. after leaving car off briefly and starting it back up and was drivable. Check engine light came on and I was able to plug in a reader and get cod…

To the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration I am submitting this formal safety complaint regarding a persistent and dangerous pattern of mechanical and electronic failures in my 2025 Hyundai Elantra N. These issues have rendered the vehicle unsafe for regular operation on public highways. The safety concerns began at 2810 miles when the vehicle first showed signs of structural and electronic instability. Since that initial mileage the vehicle has demonstrated a progressive inability to maintain its steering and alignment specifications which has led to unpredictable and hazardous driving conditions. By 16550 miles the steering issues became severe. The vehicle intermittently began …
On January 10, 2026, I purchased a brand new 2025 Hyundai Elantra N with manual transmission. At approximately 517 miles, the vehicle experienced complete clutch and transmission failure and was towed to the selling dealership. The dealership diagnosed the failure and presented a repair estimate of $6,222.96, classifying it as "customer pay/user error" and denying warranty coverage. Parts identified for replacement included the clutch cover assembly and flywheel assembly. I did not authorize any repair. I escalated to Hyundai Motor America corporate, who confirmed the dealership had not responded to their warranty inquiry for over two weeks. On February 18, 2026, Hyundai Motor America's Nati…

This service procedure should be performed prior to any 8WDCT replacements done for drivability

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2022–2026, owners most often name: electrical system, engine, power train. 40 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
