What Honda Fit owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Honda Fit safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

Car lost power when driving and MIL light came on. Loss of power placed myself and all those around me in a hazardous situation. Took to Honda dealer and P219A engine code came up. They completed the Carbon Buildup cleaning procedure under warranty (Bulletin 21-007). Car still had same issue after cleaning. They adjusted the valves (at my expense) still having the same issue. They updated the FI programming still had the same issue. They replaced the 4 fuel injectors then reassessed. Upon verification they found a single bad injector so replaced injector #4 for the second time. When I searched I found that Honda has reported issues with fuel injectors and it appears the 2018 Honda Fit (Sport…
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Electronic instrument panel goes blank or displays random pixels during cool and cold weather. Pushing the panel display selection button may bring the display back, back temporarily, or change the random pixels. Yes the vehicle can be inspected. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Display information goes blank! Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. This would be a VERY expensive electrical fault to repair and I am not paying it. Traditional display equipment never had this type of faults so it s…
I had multiple lights trigger on one day, so I took it to get the codes read. Both times I got it read it said there was an issue with the fuel injector and master cylinder. I found out online that a lot of Honda fits in my year have been recalled for the fuel injectors going out. Sadly mine wasnât on the list so I figured Iâd report it since my fuel injectors are going out. Thank you.
Bad solder connection on instrument cluster circuit board. Unable to see mileage, gas gauge, airbag, check engine, oil, trip meter....etc. intermittently.
The Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system and multipurpose camera unit (part of Honda Sensing) on my 2020 Honda Fit malfunction intermittently. On some engine starts the camera and ACC function normally. On other starts the camera does not work at all and ACC is completely unavailable. The vehicle and the camera/related components remain available for inspection upon request. When the multipurpose camera fails at startup, Adaptive Cruise Control and associated Honda Sensing features are completely unavailable. This removes automatic distance control, forward collision warning, and related driver-assistance functions, creating an increased risk of collision, especially during highway driving …
The digital multi-information display located within the instrument cluster is failing, causing the characters to scramble, pixelate, and become completely unreadable. This hardware malfunction is intermittent but progressively worsening, rendering critical vehicle operating data entirely inaccessible. Specifically, I am unable to view the available fuel level, odometer, remaining oil life, or trip mileage while driving.Safety Risk:The inability to monitor the vehicleâs remaining fuel level creates a severe and unpredictable safety hazard, as the vehicle could unexpectedly stall or lose power in high-speed traffic or hazardous road conditions without warning. Additionally, the lack of a vi…
The lane mitigation and brake system warning lights came on. The car swerved on its own off the road to the right. It put me onto the shoulder of the highway. I had to fight the steering wheel to get the car to move to the left to get back on the road. This happened twice during busy rush hour highway traffic. It also started braking periodically in the weeks leading up to this without any visible signs of being too close to an object or anything else. It was very unnerving.
I was driving and came to a four-way stop. When I accelerated from the stop, I heard a loud snapping noise and immediately lost the ability to drive the vehicle, although the engine continued to run normally. After inspecting the vehicle, it appears that the CV axle failed due to extensive rust and deterioration. While researching repair options, I discovered that a recall was issued for certain vehicles in specific states related to CV axle/driveshaft corrosion; however, Idaho was not included in the recall coverage. I am unsure why Idaho was excluded, as the apparent cause of this failure seems consistent with the recall description, which states that the driveshaft's protective coating m…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-spe
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this investigation to determine if the failure of airbags to deploy during severe crashes, in certain vehicles, was the result of a safety related defect. During the investigation a complex failure was studied that can result in non-deployment of subject vehicle air bags and other restraint system devices in severe crash events. The subject vehicles may be equipped with an airbag control unit (ACU) for the supplemental restraint system (SRS) Ele
Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2010–2020, owners most often name: electrical system, air bags, engine. 1,320 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
