I own a 2020 Harley-Davidson Road Glide equipped with keyless ignition, where the motorcycle is started using the right handlebar run/stop switch. The ignition switch on the triple tree remains installed and is used only for the fork lock. The motorcycle can be started and operated while the ignition switch is in the fork lock position. The fork lock does not fully engage unless the handlebars are turned fully to the left. This creates a condition where the motorcycle can be ridden with the fork lock partially engaged. While riding, if the handlebars are turned fully left, the fork lock can suddenly engage, causing an immediate steering lock and loss of control. There is no interlock to prev…
Manufacture TSB on Engine Coil wiring issue causing vehicle to stall, run on 1 cylinder or fail and cut out when operating vehicle. This should be a full recall. Many 2024 vehicles affected.
Under warranty with 4500 odometer miles. Front end shudders terribly when applying front brakes, especially when braking hard. Dealer service center said front brake rotors are warped and out of spec. No accident yet but Harley Davidson is refusing to fix the brake problem under warranty, stating brake rotors are a wear item not covered under the basic warranty. It would be covered if I had purchased a higher level warranty. This is a well known and reported problem with many Harley Davidson models. Parts cost to repair this dangerous condition is nearly $600. I will replace the parts myself rather than pay the dealer to do so.
Vehicle went into limp mode after loss of power. This in turn forced a ECM reboot before vehicle would run at normal operations speeds. Original fix from dealer was to repair wires that had rubbed and shorted out the ECM. This was after maybe four months of owning vehicle and after it had done it on two trips where I had to have vehicle towed as I was out of town. Recently after supposed fix, at approximately 11,230 miles, the vehicle has the same issue in which it would flash all the lights and go into limp mode. This time was especially problematic because I was in the middle of a busy intersection and very nearly got rear ended due to loss off power. I saw that they are recalling 2024 m…
The bike was on motion at 50 mph, fortunately on a rural road with no traffic. There was a sudden drastic decrease in engine power and no throttle response. Trouble lights went off. Was able to safely pull over to the side of the road and turn the bike completely off. Multiple DCTs thrown. After about 10 minutes the bike restarted, throttle response resumed. I took it directly to the dealer and they said that "it happens, just watch it. If it returns, come back and we will look at it closer." I later learned that this is referred to s "limp mode" and it is supposed to be a safety feature. If this were to happen in heavy traffic, there is nothing safe about it! Internet research and forum qu…
After getting caught in rain the all gauges,(speedo/tach, fuel, voltage), stop functioning. Have seen this happen to multiple Harley Davidson Road Glides.
Got caught in bad rain and both speedo and tach filled up with water. Bike completely shut down on highway doing 60mph (70 mph highway) and if I did not pull in on clutch, bike would have went down and I could have possibly lost my life. I believe a less experienced rider would have not been so fortunate. It is clear this is a manufacture defect as the seal on these gauges are minimal or undervalued for the part. I was given no advance warning this was going to fail and I do not try to ride in rain or any type of weather. This bike has been garaged all of its life and only the second time it has seen rain as I have several other Harley's. I believe this should be a warranty issue that Harley…
During a ride my speedometer/tachometer failed due to water intrusion. From what I have seen this is a very common issue. When this happened it caused me to loose my ABS, loss all other gauges. This was a huge saefty concern as I could not monitor anything and could have been potentially dangerous or deadly! This is a huge safety concern that I feel like harley is brushing under the rug! They need to offer some sort of support or repair for this before it claims someones life not mention the passengers life. Very serious issue that they are willing to do nothing about.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2015–2023, owners most often name: electrical system, power train, engine. 42 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
