I am submitting a second complaint. The first attempt I received a message that said there was an error on the submission. For the second time within 20,000 miles, I am replacing a rear head gasket and various other questionable leaks on my motor has result from the oil pump. There have been numerous complaints on the 2017 to 2019 Harley Davidson M8 oil pump. Harley Davidson even redesigned the oil pump for 2020 to resolve the issues. My motor has stalled at high speeds in the past two times. I understand there is a recall coming. Can you confirm this? Iâve decided to go ahead and update my oil pump because I donât wanna end up on the highway or get it run over due to a faulty oil pump …
This is my second rear gasket replacement. I had my bike serviced this week. My bike stalls sometimes and I believe it is due to the oil pump issue associated with HD M8 motors 2017 through 2019. I donât understand whether there is a recall? With so many motorcycles that have had seized motors, blown, gaskets, etc. HD even put out a Service bulletin M1450. Next, they redesigned their oil pump.I canât wait for a recall and continue to put my life on the line. My understanding is that there is a recall coming. Can you confirm this?

This is my second report on 2021 street glide special. Bike goes into limp mode whenever it wants to. This has happened at idle at a light, driving 25 MPH in town and running at 65 MPH on the freeway. Bike was at the dealer for a month in 2022 and they claimed nothing was wrong. The first time was at 13,000 miles, Bike is currently at 28,000 and problem still here. Check engine light comes on and codes all run you in circles. Resetting ECM seems to be a short term fix. This is a very dangerous problem that needs to be addressed.
The contact owns a 2019 Harley-Davidson Street Glide FLHXS. The contact stated that upon a routine oil change, oil was discovered leaking out of the primary oil cover. A dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that an extensive diagnostic test needed to be performed to determine the cause of the failure. The motorcycle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was discovered that the connection between the engine output shaft and the transmission was sucking fluid out of the transmission. The contact stated that the failure could potentially lead to transmission damage or failure. The mechanic also discovered Technical Service Bulletin: M1492 which was linked…
HARLEY DAVISON trans.in these Milwaukee 8 street glide has a 3rd gear problem. i have had min into Harley dealer now 5 times for same problem. when going on road the and you apply power for me take out he trans. and the topper was warranty dropped me now and refuse to fix the bike let alone cover it. when i bought bike everything done to it was done at dealer and by the book and now i'm left out to buy a 4000 trans when dealer and warranty approved screaming eagle kit. this is frustrating so now i'm asking what next?????
The bike randomly goes into limp mode. When codes are pulled they are always the same ECM and ABS codes. Took the bike to Harley Dealer they said they couldn't find anything wrong and couldn't duplicate it. It's happened four times now. Leaving a stoplight and entering a freeway are two examples. There is no warning before going into limp mode.
The contact owns a 2020 Harley Davidson FLHX Street Glide. The contact stated while riding approximately 60 MPH, the battery started draining and the motorcycle started losing motive power. The contact stated that the "Device connected to the USB port Draining Power - Disconnect Deviceâ message was displayed. The contact rode to a dealer where and was informed that a fuse was blown; however, the cause for the blown fuse was unknown. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The motorcycle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,100.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2014–2023, owners most often name: power train, engine, service brakes. 53 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
