The center hanger was bent inwards along with the lower plate of the frame being tilted inward. This bowed out the vertical frame web and left the shackle tilted at an angle. The RV was taken to a dealer and they sent info to Grand Design for warranty approval. 53 days after the dealer inspected our rig, Grand Design finally told us they were denying warranty coverage due to this same dealer repairing the frame at the front nose (but not doing anything around the suspension area). I was told by Grand Design and the RV dealer (after I had moved the rig about 125 miles) that I shouldn't move the rig without it being repaired. I did have my insurance inspect it, but they wouldn't cover it as it…
The contact owns a 2016 Grand Design Recreational Solitude RV. The contact stated that while the RV was parked, the side skirts separated from the wall. The contact also stated that the wall separated from the camper and that the rear of the RV moved from side to side independently. No warning lights were illuminated. The RV was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with excessive frame flex, with the body moving approximately 3/8 inch from side to side. The contact was also informed that the RV frame was severely cracked and that the weld points were damaged. The contact was informed that the RV frame needed to be replaced and that reinforced welding was needed. The RV wa…
On January 18, 2026, while towing my 2022 Grand Design Solitude 310GK near Bouse, Arizona, I discovered a serious problem and pulled off the road. The rear axle had become detached/displaced. At the time, I did not know exactly what had occurred or what caused the axle event. The RV was subsequently delivered to a repair facility on March 27, 2026. During the repair process, significant structural/frame damage was progressively discovered, including cracking in the spring-hanger/frame area. The repair facility documented that the damage was more extensive than initially believed and performed structural repairs that included additional steel and plating. My insurance company approved $23,6…
BOTH rear Brake lights are broken due poor installation technique. The mounting screws were over torqued breaking the plastic cover and allowing rain to enter. The left rear Brake light filled with water and stopped working altogether. I have contacted Grand Design to get replacement lights to no avail. Frame and structural integrity/towable RV. 7/15/2024 â First Warranty Repair (Frame): Blue Compass found broken seal-plate welds on the frame; welds repaired, bolts replaced. 30 ft of roof membrane, which had pulled loose and "ballooned" in transit, was fully replaced. 6/2026 â Recurrence: Roof membrane pulled loose again during travel. Mobile tech (Mike's RV Repair, GA) performed a temporary repair ($668.60, GD-reimbursed), initially noting "frame flex" based on owner's account of 2024 history, later revised to "possible frame flex" absent independent diagnosis. 6/19â21/2026 â Follow-up Repair: GD/dealer deemed mobile-tech photos insufficient. Blue Compass Charleston reopened th…
*I believe the frame to my Grand Design RV is broken/failing again and is available for inspection. *If the frame fails and breaks it will come detached from the tow vehicle possibly injuring or worse killing people. *The problem is visible to see as there is at least one broken weld and lag bolts/screws backing out that no longer hold the frame to the wall structure. *The vehicle was previously inspected by an insurance agent, dealership, and multiple Grand Design SRTs-mobile technicians when it failed before previous repairs. *There was sealant that was failing again so when I started to remove it to replaced, it I noticed some broken screw heads so I dug farther into it and found the br…
Documented Symptoms consistent with the conditions described in Grand Design TSB 24-001 1. Dynamic Sidewall Separation â Driver and Passenger Sides The upper-deck sidewall area displays visible movement under load. When the trailer is connected to the truck via the pin box, the exterior trim and sidewall gap noticeably widens. When the trailer is leveled on its landing gear, the separation compresses and partially closes. Additional observations include: â¢Separation of exterior trim components â¢Cracked and widening caulk joints â¢Visible movement beneath both upper-deck slide-out openings These conditions were first observed following an approximately 300-mile round trip completed on …
Beginning in 2024 our RV exhibited consistent structural movement & frame flex including: upper deck flex, front cap cracking, cracked moldings, sidewall movement, filon transition movement, screws pushing upward into floors, slides coming out during travel. Rv has unsuccessfully been repaired twice by Grand Design SRT & three times at Grand Design Factory. Independent RV service repair shop identified further damage caused by Grand Designs failed attempts at repair.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
Grand Design is addressing concerns of excessive frame flex or wall securement in the front upper deck area of a limited number of fifth-wheel units. This condition could potentially occur over time due to a combination of manufacturing variations, an overload condition, or hitch modifications. Wall securement or excessive frame flex does not compromise vehicle safety or structural integrity of the coach as verified by third-party experts. This service campaign covers 2020-2023 Grand Design Solitude and Momentum fifth wheel products that are 18,000lbs GVWR and over.
We have found that when a customer reclines the customerâs recliner may tip forward unexpectedly, this can result in the customer potentially falling out of the recliner. The fix for this is to ensure the recliners are secured at both the front and rear prior to July 2025 the recliners were only secured at the front.

TSB 24-001 Issued in March on March 7th. Concern: Complaint of upper deck flex which results in cosmetic damages to the interior and excessive flex at the pin box. Remedy : The procedure outlined in attached summary to assess damages if any and direct customers to the next steps.
Broken Interior Step treads. Steps may break at the riser due to the amount of overhang.
Wiring to the remote start/stop switch of the generator at the GenSet panel is wired incorrectly. During use, the generator must be unplugged to shut down. This is ONLY on Solitude units with factory installed generator package. Gen prep not affected.
The rear upper deck on Solitude ST390RK models produced prior to June 6, 2022 may not be properly supported. As a result, the rear upper deck floor may sag slightly at the sidewalls. Remedy: The remedy includes the use of additional fasteners (961113 - Screw 14x1 Hex Waster Type a Zinc, 960736- #625 Tri-fold LG FLG Alum .39-.354 Grip Rivet) and support bracing. (512064 - 1x2 Stuffed AL Tube, 512065 - 2x3 Stuffed AL Tube)
Newly designed lippert upper deck leaves space between pin box and bulkhead. This creates the potential for water intrusion from road spray. The remedy is to install a filler plate (part number #110460)
Gray Tank has an uncapped plumbing hole on top of tank on ST346FLS select units.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opens these when complaints point to a possible safety defect. Many end in a recall.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received twenty-three complaints alleging excessive frame flex on model year 2017-2023 Grand Design fifth wheel recreational trailers, models Momentum and Solitude. Twenty-two of the complaints allege that excessive frame flex resulted in a cargo or entry door opening while in transit, some with objects lost on roadways, while six complaints also state that slideouts extended out partially. ODI has been in contact with both Grand Design and Lippert,

In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2013–2026, owners most often name: structure, unknown or other, suspension. 145 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
