1)The glass on the Furrion fireplace exploded. There are photos, but it has been cleaned up. It was not under any stress. It was parked in our driveway, not in use, and the power was plugged in with ACs set to keep the internal temperature from any significant fluctuations. 2/3)While our direct safety was not at risk because it was not in use, you can see by the photo the blast and the shards of glass could have seriously injured anyone (person, children, or pets) who may have been inside. There are numerous reports of this happening to others, some of whom were inside. They are all grand design, units, many the same model. See enclosed photos. 4)We reported it to grand design via phone on …

Slide out on RV repeatedly failed to fully extend and retract. Was told by RV repair shop that structural failure was the cause. The problem was discovered and confirmed by a dealer service center. As of 5-27-2026, it has not been inspected by the manufacturer. The structural failure could have caused the slide out to unexpectedly extend while in transit. The structural failure could also cause a catastrophic event while in transit. There were no noticeable symptoms or warning signs of this condition except for the multiple slide out problems.
Fifth wheel was purchased with a tire monitoring system included. It has not worked since we purchased it 8-19-2024. We have taken it twice to the dealer, Blue Compass and it still doesn't work. I am told the problem is they put the wrong sensors in the tires. Lippert and Grand Design are fighting about who's fault it is all while it still doesn't work. Not having the tire sensor/monitoring system working has created a safety issues for us. We have no idea if the tires get hot, start to lose air, all of which could happen without the system working correctly. That creates a safety issue because the camper is a fifth wheel 35' long weighing 12,000 lbs. I am reporting this because I have no wh…
2023 RV unit experienced front cap cracking through complete cap. Grand Design stated it was a paint issue and would not warranty the damage. 2025 RV unit experienced exact same front cap cracking throughout the cap, side corners of cap and front side seam separation of RV. Interior seam and trim separation greater than reasonable and customary for an RV of this age and quality build. Repair shops, experts, RV dealers have stated these are certain symptoms of frame flex and pin box inadequacy. The potential exists for further frame damage and catastrophic failure, especially while in motion. The damage continues to broaden and manifest to greater degrees as time progresses, from front ca…

Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2014–2024, owners most often name: service brakes, structure, unknown or other. 152 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
