What Grand Design Imagine owners have reported to NHTSA, the service bulletins the manufacturer sent dealers, and any federal defect investigations, by model year. See Grand Design Imagine safety recalls or check your VIN.
Complaints owners filed with NHTSA, by the model year of the vehicle. A high count can also mean a popular year, so compare it with how many were sold.

The vehicle systems named most often in Grand Design Imagine complaints (one complaint can name several).
In the owners’ own words, as filed with NHTSA. Unverified reports; NHTSA removes personal details before publishing.
The spring hangers separated from the frame. This caused the vehicle to lean to the curb side bending the axles. Making the trailer untowable. Possibly flipping over on corners. 05
Structural Frame Cracks, risk of structural frame separation from the body at highway speeds. RV Frame cracks, horizontal, above suspension frame hangers.
Component failure : Left rear tire showed signs of wear. Replaced the tire and upon reinstalling checked the hubs and brakes. All good. Noticed a little deflection in the front of the left rear shackle. It was obscured by foam and underbelly material. Upon peeling it back, it was noticed that the shackle had torn completely away from the frame beam. RISK : This trailer had it been pulled down the highway another 10 miles would have experienced a catastrophic failure. This trailer at minimum would have lost the axle and torn apart the trailer. Worse it could have flipped the trailer or tow vehicle Reported Problem : Grand Design, the manufacturer, and Lippert the frame manufacturer …
On XXX, I was towing my 2024 Grand Design Imagine AIM travel trailer, VIN [XXX], on the freeway at highway speed behind a 2025 Ram 1500 Crew Cab using a hitch equipped with sway control bars. After the trailer crossed a bump in the road surface, it began swaying side to side and the oscillation grew uncontrollably within seconds despite the sway control. The trailer rolled over and was destroyed. It is a total loss. [Add: injuries, if any / no injuries.] This was not an isolated event. From the time of purchase the trailer exhibited poor towing behavior, including a tendency to sway and wander that was noticeably worse than other trailers I have towed with the same truck. I believe there ma…
Timeline of Structural Failures June 11, 2026 â During tire replacement (approx. 6,000 towing miles), a crack at the driverâside front spring hanger was discovered and photographed. June 15, 2026 â A bent Aâframe brace behind the battery tray was observed during travel, indicating frontâframe deformation. July 2, 2026 â Coroplast underbelly separation occurred; many fasteners were loose or missing. Temporary ductâtape repairs were made while traveling. July 4, 2026 â Two of four batteryâtray welds failed. Battery assembly was held only by one weld, the propane line, and antiâtheft straps. Two batteries remained mounted. Photos documented the failure. Structural Issues Id…
I am filing a formal safety complaint against Camping World for structural equipment overloading, unauthorized safety component manipulation, and willful public safety endangerment. On May 29, the dealer hitched a 37' long trailer to my half ton truck frame. This combination violates critical highway stability standards. A 37' trailer requires a minimum 178" tow vehicle wheelbase to counteract lateral wind forces and semi-truck displacement. Operating it with a 157" wheelbase leaves a catastrophic 21" layout deficit, causing uncontrollable highway sway. The tailer's loaded tongue weight (1,223 to 1,529 lbs based on a 10,195 lb GVWR) physically overloads the truck's factory stamped 1,22o lb h…
Faulty panel wiring but everything works on shore and truck power. Called Grand Design (case #00996054) and was told it was a bad LiFEPO4 battery . I open the distribution panel and the schematic shows I should have 2 red wires (one to converter and the other to the battery) but I only have 1. Solution: Issue was in the original wiring from the factory. I called GD again and tech noticed the red wire was there but incorrectly connected to the DC fuse panel side (essentially bypassing the converter) as "battery disconnect." For my sanity I spent $165, not reimburseable per GD, and had a RV service tech come out and confirm the wiring was now correct and was told once I got a new battery ever…
Axle assembly does not meet Federal Vehicle Safety requirements. Vehicle is rated at GVWR/PNVB 8995LB and axle assemble ratings are 4400 each. Two axles at 4400 each is 8800 LB, see axle tag photos. The leaf springs are rated at 3500 LBS with both being 7000 LB, see axle tag Leaf Spring Designation 7225 LB. I have 4,427 documented miles on the recreation vehicle and just had the bearings repacked and two out of the four bearings show scoring and discoloration from extreme over heating indicating improper calculation of load bearing components. The manufacture's own labels show the suspension is not rated or configured for the RV's requirements.
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.

Grand Design RV is launching a Customer Satisfaction Campaign to address concerns of I-beam cracks appearing above the spring hangers on some Imagine IM2910BH models manufactured between July 2020 and June 2023 which was prior to a running change of v-braces in the spring hangers being implemented. The reports of these cracks have primarily been located on the right side of the vehicle. Right hand turns in which the right side tires repeatedly drop off the pavement, and/or repeated scrubbing of the tires with unusually sharp parking maneuvers may contribute to this condition. The addition of V

Grand Design RV has decided to launch a Customer Satisfaction Campaign to address customer concerns regarding the cabinet under the refrigerator on the 2025 Imagine 2600RB. This cabinet allows interior access to the exterior griddle. The concern involves the potential for flammable items to be stored in an area where they may come into contact with the exterior griddle. Grand Design is authorizing the securement of this door at no charge to our customers. The securement of this door ensures that the area will not be accessible for any purpose other than maintenance of the outside griddle.
12V Labeling Missing for breaker identification. Remedy = Install missing label on the distribution panel.
Attic Vents and solar ports on affected units may prematurely crack allowing for water infiltration. TSB 23-003. Issued December 29th, 2023. PDF attached .
A crack may occur in the existing skylight. As a result, there is a potential for water to intrude.
TPMS System was wired to an inactive line in the solar prep harness and therefore will not have a direct power supply.
On the roll-over sofa, the sofa back stop bolt may be missing. As a result, when the sofa back is rolled over to make a bed it may not lay flat.
Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation public data (complaints, manufacturer communications, investigations), model years 2010 and later. Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA.
In complaints filed with NHTSA for model years 2016–2026, owners most often name: suspension, unknown or other, equipment. 69 complaints are on record.
No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
