The vehicle systems named most often in Genesis GV80 complaints (one complaint can name several).
In the owners’ own words, as filed with NHTSA. Unverified reports; NHTSA removes personal details before publishing.
The headlight assemblies on both the right and left side have water pooling which severely dims nighttime visibility and creates an immediate risk of total headlight failure while driving at highway speeds. The Forward Collision Avoidance safety sensors have begun flashing or malfunctioning due to the excessive moisture.
The vehicle experienced a failure of the High Pressure Fuel Crossover Pipe, a safety defect subject to NHTSA Recall 26V-229 (Manufacturer Campaign 033G). While operating the vehicle over 200 miles from home, a strong odor of raw fuel was detected inside and outside the vehicle. The vehicle was immediately parked at an authorized Genesis dealership due to the risk of pressurized fuel leaking onto hot engine components and igniting an engine compartment fire. The dealership confirmed the defect and performed the recall service, completing and invoicing the repair order on August 5, 2026. However, the manufacturer failed to fulfill its statutory duty to provide a remedy without charge and withi…
The evaporator core leaks 1234yf in the cabin rendering the air conditioning useless. During times of higher humidity, the air conditioner is needed for defogging the windows of the vehicle. The inability to do so severely limits visibility.
Air conditioner evaporator core failure. Air conditioner stopped working. Took vehicle to shop and was told by dealer this was a common problem and that TSB 25-HA-002G was issued concerning this problem. After researching vehicle online, I found a Facebook page with numerous other owners having the same problem. Local dealer told me it would cost $3700 to repair. This vehicle is five years old and although the Genesis Corporations is aware of the problem (TSB) they seem to be pushing the repair of a defective product off onto the customers.
This complaint concerns Manufacturer Recall 033G (NHTSA Recall 26V229000) for a fuel crossover pipe with retention fasteners that may loosen over time, creating a fuel leak and engine compartment fire risk. The vehicle has not yet received the recall remedy because the nearest authorized Genesis retailer capable of performing the repair is over 620 miles round trip. The recall filing states that Genesis will reimburse owners for out-of-pocket expenses incurred to obtain the remedy, in accordance with a reimbursement plan submitted to NHTSA on March 2, 2026. I contacted Genesis's National Consumer Affairs team and requested written pre-approval of round-trip transportation costs consistent w…
This car has stalled 3 times. Randomly, but each time while car was fully stopped. Once when I was sitting in a parking lot about to pull into traffic, and when waiting for a light to go from red to green. After these two times I took car to dealer. They ran diagnostics and said there were NO error codes. They tried to reproduce but could not. I asked them to reset all computers in car, which they did. But it happened again yesterday. This third time, weather is nice, about 68 degrees. I had been driving about 3 miles, waiting for a light to change. I believe the car went into âAuto stopâ, like usual, but when light changed and I took foot off brake, car stalled. It then BEEPS rapidly…
The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV80. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V229000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the two local dealers had shut down, and the other authorized dealers were extremely far away. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, and a case was filed. The contact had not experienced a failure.
At approximately 68k miles, I observed hesitation when pulling away from a stop in our 2023 GV80 2.5t AWD Prestige. At 71,300 miles, we observed an increasing howling noise from the rear of the vehicle, primarily at coasting, with various tones emitted during application and release of the accelerator pedal. The rear differential fluid was drained for inspection, and there were metal shavings accumulated on the drain magnet, discolored (metallic shavings) fluid, and visible shiny metal flakes in the drained fluid. The differential is close to total failure on this vehicle. Hyundai has issued a TSB, so it is known, but they are not recalling this extreme safety hazard that has been reported f…
Repair instructions and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about known issues. A TSB is not a recall, and the repair is usually free only while the car is under warranty; ask your dealer for the bulletin number.
Some GV70 (JK1, JK1A), GV80 (JX1) and G80 (RG3) vehicles may have a hum or whine noise condition from the rear differential at certain speeds. This bulletin describes the procedure to inspect the vehicle for the hum or whine noise and, if necessary, to tighten the rear differential lock nut to specification. If the hum or whine noise remains after tightening the lock nut, then this bulletin provides instructions to replace the rear differential or other driveline components as necessary.
Your vehicle may exhibit battery drain due to the Central Control Panel (CCP) not entering sleep mode. At Genesis, we are committed to providing vehicles of outstanding quality and value. In an effort to meet this commitment, Genesis is conducting a campaign to update the Central Control Panel (CCP) Software at NO CHARGE to you.
Some Genesis vehicles (listed below) equipped with Lambda-III 3.5T-GDI engines may exhibit reduced heater performance due to engine coolant deposits clogging the heater core. This bulletin provides instructions to verify the concern and to replace the front and rear heater core (if applicable).
This bulletin provides information related to the navigation and head unit software changes introduced in the 2026 1st Navigation Map and Software Update. The changes may vary depending on vehicle type, model, and navigation system. No. A complaint is an unverified report from an owner. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the manufacturer telling dealers how to fix a known issue; it is not a safety recall and is usually covered only under warranty. A recall is a formal safety action, and its repair is free.
File a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA.gov. NHTSA reads every report, and patterns of complaints are what open defect investigations and, eventually, recalls.
